Opening ceremonies are stupid. It's like a crap school production on a bigger budget. I'd only watch if my kid was in it, although I don't have a kid.

I'm just waiting for our boys to come out. Assuming there will be a teams parade or something.

Feeling a bit of a numpty.  Got up to tune into TVNZ at 1 am and now realise I could have slept for another 30 mins.  opening ceromny highlights (yawn).

Still the WC ads are good.

Yep - (almost) real stuff now.

Slept is useful when reffing a Junior match at 10 am  (admittedly only Gr8).  Fortunately the following Gr10 match has been cancelled.

probably more likely correct, the opening ceremony guy said that it was based on a drinking vessel and represented south african culture and the likes...

That lynx ad with the bikini women running at the one guy on the beach was a classic.

Yeah that's what my book said too. And when they made another such vessel during the opening ceremony smoke started billowing out of it. Strange drink.
[QUOTE=Michael]Its a bit racist.

Yeah where were all the non-black singers? I wanted ALL WHITES.

i loved the opening ceremony. awesome stuff. they had a concert after the game? with stars like alicia keys, black eye peas. love how there soccer city stadium was built based on there cooking pot. very flash. The camera angles and HD slow motion views very impressive. darkhorse2010-06-12 14:10:57

I thought Blatter was a bit patronising in his speech. How many times did he say the world cup is in South Africa just to get applause.
