Very humble in the post-match interview, thanked his wife for putting her through 'hell' as he put it. Then a few minutes later he's over signing autographs for some kids in the crowd.

And a couple of not bad saves too!

Interesting that a year ago most were bagging him yet this season (esp the last two months) he has come alive, 2 clean sheets for the AWs and 3 for the Phoenix.

Going to be hard for Mossy to regain the No1 shirt now!

Wellyphoenixfan - didn't you put missy in your squad for 2010?

Just watched the replay, and rememered the moment - Paston cleanly taking teh ball, for us to win.  Cool as a cucumber too.  Take a bow, Mr Paston.  (we were chanting Oh Mark Pason, lord, Mark Paston, through Manners mall)

Let's not forget though that Richard Wilson did all the hard work in 1981-82, only to be overtaken by Frank van Hattum when they got to Spain.

But take nothing away from Mark Paston. He performed magnificently in both legs of the Bahrain tie. Let's hope that coming back to the A-League is not too big a let-down for him and the other 'Nix players.

Everyone at the game just witnessed a World Class display of goalkeeping, as well as the personal qualities to match his on field achievements.

What I loved about his save is how cool he was about it. Just got up as if he'd not done anything out of the ordinary and went to feed it back into play... Just the kewlest

was paston not rickys first choice back at the beginning of the phoenix only to be cut off by injury...perhaps that circle is now complete...he also seems to be totally lacking in the petulant attitude moss brings to the game...well done mark you deserve all the plaudits you receive

Paston was brilliant in both legs, their should be a lot of humble pie being eaten recently after he was bagged so much earlier.

He's cool under pressure, not a hothead like most keepers - Paston is the man.
The game will be remembered for his penalty save as much as Rory's goal.

Remember the other great saves he did in the gave apart from the penalty - awesome

99% people on these forums in fact. There was a small minority who knew what was going on. Looking forward to Campbell Live tonight though! (Pastons on for those who don't know)

I was very impressed with how well he organised the defence.

Especially how he instructed Lochy to hack down the Bahraini player in the box so he could take all the glory by saving the penalty.el grapadura2009-11-16 18:40:43

Tbh I was more impressed by how he organised the goal just before halftime, made the halftime break alot better.

Sarcasm aside EG, you must admit he is a brilliant organiser and it appears he is not too bad at shotstopping either. Of course I will give you credit where it is due, long ago I remember you said Paston was a good penalty stopper so (Not that I disagreed with you )

All throughout the season I've been saying how Crowthers better and Paston shouldn't be in goal.

I'll gladly eat my words. Brilliant performance. It wasn't the best taken penalty but Paston read the penalty SOOOO well.

I read before the game that the birth of Pastons son was the best moment of his life. Not any more!!!
