Qualification After Party?

Has the WCC considered the sheer, utter mentalness that will occur after the match if we manage to qualify? This will be much. much bigger than the 7's, am hoping they have come up with some sort of plan for Courtenay Place etc...

Courtenay place... Yuk.

Somewhere more classy. and Family Friendly..

Civic Square would be pretty good. Everyone pile back there. Live music? and the team.
And anyone who would rather go and drink straight away can do so, or can head there for music and that sort? (Then drink afterwards)

It would be petty cool for something like that for Football.
And its not like it can't be done.

Turn it into the biggest night of the year.Stefan2009-09-15 21:25:36

Because no nightclub's dress standards would allow white pants being worn.

I agree. I'm coming up from CHCH and would like some sort of post match event should we qualify.  An outdoor semi family friendly street party would be nice.

Think xmas in the park mixed with Homegrown mixed with Undie 500.  Something like that...

If 30,000 people turn up at courtney place, there's nothing the council could do anyway. ;)

big street party, ala the sevens gotta be, no reason why families couldnt get involved. I'd say the majority will be people going nuts wanting to drink etc.

I just cant see 30,000 people wanting to tear the house down if we win. I would say a lot of people going will be casual New Zealand sports followers, and while happy we go through, they will  probably just go home.

Though there should be something set up just in case. If it was even a 1/4 as good as the sevens, would be Epic.

There's also plenty of out of towners such as myself who will be attempting to drink your fine city dry should we qualify.

Great initiative because that would probably help make the game a bigger drawcard to some of my mates - tell em about the massive street Party afterwards haha

How about the stadium concourse :-) Casue when we win it'll take 2 hrs to get down it anyway. Just bring a hipflask.

Its no longer a problem.

Four Kings have asked to have Inglewood Place closed off for the home leg. We might put a stage and a band outside, watch this space.......

1982 - short shorts, wide collars and hair mousse, lots of synth music
1999 - come midnight everything will crash as the Y2K really does hit (only 9 years later)

Still, being drunk and loud is the same in any decade.

Sounds like a great idea.  Would be awful to put heaps of effort into it and then lose.  Maybe start seriously organizing after we see how we do in Manama (but still float the idea early).  I'd be uber-keen for some massive, football-fueled after-party.

Before kids I would have sought out the most down and dirty party in town....but....I'll be flying down with my eldest and bearing in mind she is six...family friendly is the theme of the day me thinks.

Frank Kitts Park?

Plenty of room for a band/stage and marquee tents for food and drink to be sold.

Win or lose lets drink Wellington dry

Wellington should be football party city regardless of how we are after the first leg.

yep thats right- WCC are all over this.

but it is hard to publiciy organise a victory party for somehting you havn't won yet. kind of the definition of hubris really, and only invites nemesis

Yeah sort of like when you're stuck at home sick when the Phoenix are leading a game a minute in to injury time and someone sends you a text saying 'ha, you can never come to a Phoenix game again'...

but yeah just by way of a general response- WCC are dooing heaps but they don't always blow the tumpet about it, prefer to fly under the radar in these types of events

they have done alot to secure this game and will be doing a lot in the lead up and on the day- probably keener to make the game go smooth and earn the trust of NZF and FIFA than concentrate on a victory party that may or may not be needed- leave that to the private operators, and set bup a good track record for future events.

so you don't really need to panic- the event is in good hands & the events staff read this forum so they take feedback on board, good and bad.

anyone see the small article in SST about Street football at Queen's Wharf Square on Nov 14? those guys know about publicity
