I reckon this is a little bit of truth in all of it to be honest. I'm
not one to blow it up into a conspiracy but I think there is just
enough of each point to be relevant.
I think something like this if I were to create a story:
After
ONC, he is told that he still has a job but needs to get to the WC or
he is gone. In the ensuing months and looking at the shambles of NZF with everything that has happened, he
has probably decided that enough it enough and he wants out after the campaign is done but keeps it to himself. They go up to Azteca and get smashed. Ricki goes on
attack with the big "fuck you all I get no respect I'm staying to the
end" speech. The board see all this press and the black out when they
arrive back and say 'enough of this fucker' and Frank issues a presser of 'Oi prick, we'll
advertise'. Ricki meets with Frank and something is said like 'great
timing mate, I've still got a job to do' and Frank tells him that after the
ONC disaster that he was on thin ice and the reality is, he is
goneburgers because of the 1st leg result. Because they are giving FDJ the top job, they'll give him his old job but only if he walks today. Ricki keeps with the defiant line
in the press but probably weighs it all up and finally decides that he does not need this bullshit and
decides to get out and announce it, ensuring he gets a send off. With
the last game on the way out, the best way to look like a champ is give
the press and public the team they want. If they get tonked, he gets
proven right for picking his favourites and if not, he looks like a
champ for playing the new breed.
Not exactly a JFK conspiracy but I reckon there is enough in there. with little bits from each and the timing and other bits are not far off. i also think there are some people that need an ass kicking and to look up the definition of timing in the dictionary.
