Has anybody driven from Auckland to Welly and back again? If so how much petrol did they use?

We've been here before.  What type of car is a major has a huge impact, as does how you drive it.

Yes I know that, I drive a 1.6 engine car. And I drive it like a normal human being

Cheaper to fly if you had booked in advance (could be as little as $80 return).
You'd be lucky to get cheap flights now, but still worth a look.

Have a look at the Naked Bus, they're usually good

Or hitchhike naked, some truckie will pick you up for favours returned, and i don't mean money

Grabaseat's always worth a look as well.
