Yeah he is my best mate... Well he was until he chose not to give the arm band to me and instead put it on trademe... ;-)
I offered him good cash for it too but he thinks he is going to get like $20,000 like when that chick got $20,000 for her handbag that Tana Umaga used to hit Masoe with.

I hope he gets offered $2 and then he will have to sell it to me.

So I presume this was handed over to someone in the crowd?

Bloody despicable IMO.

I quite often stay behind for player autographs etc. at the few international sport fixtures I've been to and there's always one idiot in the group (yep, Wellington had one too) that comments "ooh great, going to put this on Trademe!" after a player signs an autograph for them.

Slap in the face much? Not that the *money* would worry the players much, but to profit from a GIFT given with sincerity is IMO completely disrespectful and deplorable.

I will be wearing my AWs shirt proudly for years and you would be able to buy it from me for a million dollars... well I must admit I've have to think carefully about that...but you know what I mean.

God, even worse. You actually know the guy, actually offered him money for it, and it was turned down. Absolutely bloody shameful.

The only auctions that these items ever belong in are "charity auctions" IMO.

The handbag was different - good on her for getting what she did with it. It was HERS to begin with (just as my banner is mine, but I wouldn't sell that for $20,000).

I was desperate for it. Being an actual football fan and seeing it go to the guy next to me who doesn't like football (really).
I wanted it so bad... Still do. But not to sell it for money, so I can have it, enjoy it, frame it etc and display it proudly.

It's something I would never sell personally but what can you do.

Go bribe him, or blackmail him if you have to.

While wihdrawing the auction while running is frowned upon by Trademe, who gives a sh*t.

So have you bought it yet? Shame that you'd have to pay, but it will bring you great joy for years.

Were you in the front row?

Speaking of values. SOmething I am not ever selling, am getting framed on my wall. How much would it be worth though. I have a Sumner Lovin shirt signed by Herbert, Paston, Fallon, Lochead, Sigmund, Tim brown. And an inflatable kiwi signed by the coach, goalscorer and Man of Match.

My most prized posessions.

Yo did you get those signed at the end of the street parade? Did I look on as you asked Ricky to sign your blowup kiwi and say to you "Go Kiwi!!"?

Considering he's only a casual 'fan', I can see why he is selling it. But not letting his mate have it cut price is a real bastard thing to do.

A real fan of the game huh? That's as low as the scalpers before the game. my autographed tee shirt is staying with me till the day I die. I am not going to profit from it, it has emotional bonds with me.

With you being a real fan, he should give it to you for free for Xmas. mementos are a special thing to remind you of an awesome experience. Something to appreciate in bad times.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Unfortunately the guy appears to have a heart made of stone (or money)...
Doesn't look like he is going to bend on this one.

Will just have to hold on to the hope that no-one wants to pay him big money for it.
Best mates aye, what are they good for then? Haha.

earlier this year when we(Phoenix) were playng a pre-season match against Melbourne Kevin Muscat gave me his Captains Armband, so the next day i went to the airport and i got a few autographs from the likes of muscat, archie thompson, durrante, bertos, rojas, sigmund, lia and greenacre(i think thats it) and im not even selling it. Would absolutely love that Nelson armband but i wouldnt pay for it(maybe $99 or less).tomrewi2009-11-17 22:15:14

I wouldn't sell it but it's the world we live in now. I caught a signed crusaders rugby ball at a game a couple of years ago but smashed some 8year old in the process so I gave it to him only for his olds to sell it on trade me the next week!
