Just saw the Danny Hay article and must say the result gained look pretty impressive.

Does anyone know a little more about these games and the quality of the national school boy squads.

The results were: v Scotland 1-1 draw, v Northern Ireland 2-0 win, v Ireland 1-2 loss, v Wales 2-1 win, v England 1-1 draw.

LIttle surprised and disappointed not to have heard anything prior to the NZ result against England. Hopefully the cricketers can do one better over today and tomorrow.

I know a couple of the lads on the tour and they had a great time.

It can be hard to know how those UK teams are put together. Often they do not include players who are with professional academies, and sometimes the age groups are slightly different.

Nonetheless, fantastic experience for the lads that went.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

looked at the english team, maybe 2 or 3 were involved with pro clubs the likes of stockport county, hardly a selection of englands best young talent.

Irrespective of the lack of pro's, noone makes a british isles secondary schools side without being a competent footballer. - The consistant results are very promising.  Well done.

I absolutely agree.
Just providing context.

One assumes there would have been scouts at these games so hopefuly one or two of hte boys make contact with someone and have  an opportunity or two open up.

Its great to see all these little tournaments been played around the world by different NZ teams and being competative.

Perhaps, but unlikely.

For a start, as already indicated, we're competitive with players who are not of a quality to be involved in professional environments.

Additionally, our players almost certainly have work permit issues. So unless one player absolutely shone, which might prompt a conversation, it is unlikely that anyone will "get picked up" from a tour like this.

The great benefit of these types of tours is in experience, which builds confidence in being able to travel and be competitive, which is something that New Zealand desperately needs.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

About 10k worth of experience each apparently. Which is probably worth it depending on how much game time you got.

Fuck this stupid game

One confirmed signing from this tour, Judd Baker a striker. Signed with Swansea for 2 years playing in youth grades.  Judd was recently named in NZ U17 squad to attend World Cup, affter initially being 'out of the reckoning'.

Stockport County no longer a Professional Club. Currently playing in the Conference North, the second tier of semi-pro football.
