Looks like Fiji have finished top of their group. Hopefully the make the final, then the first game in NZ is in Wellington. Sweet.

Also, officially American Samoa was the first team to be eliminated from the 2010 WC.

Ranks are important as they are what makes playing in Europes top leagues easier for our players not owning an EU passport....

...that aside I wonder how long it will be before Roy Krishna gets lured to NZFC, he seems to have the goods, has played well against Auckland A & B and is still very young.

Hoping for a Welly World Cup game with 25000 at the Ring of Fire, and Killen and Smeltzy scoring hattricks against New Caledonia. Hope to beat Fiji well and other victim I would like to thrash is Vanuatu, but I think we'll be playing the Solomons.

So the game in wellington on october the 17th will be against either Vanuatu or the Solomons. With Fiji and New Caledonia battling for the gold medal. Is it a surprise to see New Caledonia in the final? Don`t seem to hear much about them.

[QUOTE=Seatts]Graham Seatter here again. We plan to play our Oceania World Cup qualifying match in Wellington, at the "Ring of Fire", on Wednesday 17 October. The venue will be confirmed next Monday, once our opponent is known. At this stage, we know that we will play the 3rd-placed team from the South Pacific Games, which finish this weekend. We will have played that same team away on the preceding Saturday, 13 October. We will be announcing the team over the next few weeks, but - at this stage - there has been no indication, formal or informal, that any of our overseas-based players will be unavailable. Barring injuries then, at this stage, we expect Chris Killen and Ryan Nelsen to be available. Their premiership competitions do not play the previous weekend - the challenge for them is getting back to play in the UK for the following weekend. Mark Hughes is supportive, and understands the issue - he is used to Brett Emerton (and Lucas Neill, until recently) doing just that. I did read the article where Chris expressed concerns about playing after the return trip - especially, on this occasion, given that Celtic is away to Rangers the following weekend, and he is trying to break into the eleven.

So N.Z v Vanuatu at the "ring of fire" on the 17th october.

Yeah, a lot more Polynesians in Auckland than anywhere else in NZ (I think).

All the more reason to have that game in Wellington too, so as not to dilute home advantage.

Good point (or have it in Christchurch).
