Is Emblen the man to take us forward? Looks a ready-made replacement. Who would the other candidates be?
The next All Whites coach
Tony Readings.
I'd say it's pretty safe to assume it'll be Emblen.
Are you happy with that?
Give Graham arnold $500,000 a year from that tv rights money

He's been groomed for the job, so at least he knows what he's getting himself into.
To be fair, who's coaching is less of an issue at this stage of our footballing development than figuring out how to broaden the base of players capable at relatively high levels of the game and setting them on professional pathways at an earlier age and with more success. Until we get that right, the coach, whoever he/she is, can only do so much with fairly limited playing resources.

Emblen got the Olympic team playing some decent football and most of those lads should be AWs regulars in the future. That's good enough for me.
I agree with El G but would add we need at least 3 matches a year against decent opposition or else we'll never get a chance to develop the understanding required to execute a more fluid style in one off games. A few days together every few years does not cut it, nor do occasional matches against Island teams in where our top players are absent through"injury"
It will be Emblen, I hope it's not, but certainly there's no other obvious choice domestically.
As for Tony Readings, why would he jump aboard this ship when his one is sailing bloody well.

I'd like it to be him but I would be surprised and so would he.

the Auckland city manager, the catalunyan guy
assistant simon elliot or vicellich
paston gk coach
if not ryan nelsen
ex players dont always make good coaches..need clean sweep.
Whats the rush?
Wont be playing for a while will they,
That'll give Emblem enough time to get his badges if in fact he actually needs them
Sean Douglas?
Please Ricki Herbert, you're an embarrassment - go now. Don't wait for Wednesday. And while you're at it take your deadwood with you - namely Lochhead, Christie, Butler and Scott. A yellow card has spared us Bertos. It's also done Ivan Vicelich, who I really respect, a favour as he's past it at 37. I've nothing against them as players but they are not international standard anymore, save Vicelich, who just doesn't have the legs.
What really sticks in my craw is Christie, who was ridiculous out there. Bertos couldn't tackle and Lochhead huffed and puffed to no avail. We could have made a game of it if Roux, Tuiloma and James were on from the outset. Instead it was an embarrassment to watch, particularly the first half.
Emblen can take the team in Wellington and he would probably put on an attacking display. We won't beat them but at least it won't be going backwards like we have been under Herbert. The Phoenix are now finding new life without him, please can't the AWs?
At least I can enjoy ACFC playing Casablanca in the Fifa Club World Cup next month. In Ramon Tribulietx we have a coach who knows what he's doing, albeit with more limited resources. You watch, City will put on a great display.

Ramon Tribulietx, this is the next manager,
nz needs to move from the english style, outdated, this catalunyan guy, has the meditarranean school of Barça at your very backyard,...and your best players are 25 , 26 time and attacking minded players, time to move on...and starting over
Give us Ramon!
Give us Ramon!
He turned down Ernie. He'll probably turn down NZF. Why go there?
i have reservations about tribuliex because in my opinion he's done a p1ss poor job at the last 2 club world cups
if he can do better this time round, i'd have him in the job in a flash

Fuck right off.
Amateur club at a tournament featuring full professional clubs. What do you expect?
This!
That's about the same chance as New Zealand at the World Cup

calm down mr angry
in my opinion, and i'm entitled to one, he prepared the team well, but set them out very negatively come tournament time, just like herbert did today. 4-3-3 became 4-5-1 at tournament time. once they dropped goalsthey came out of their shells
contrast this with the amazing, attacking football played by paul posa's side
i hope he has learnt from this, because he might just be the best coach in nz

Besides, hard to argue a team of amateurs when Ivan is in the paper talking about salary caps... *snigger*

Get real.
No you are a Birkenhead supporter. I know who you are. I thought it was posted by FUBLU and then saw Jerzy right in behind it. Apologies
My point still stands though.

How would people feel about a foreign coach? Not sure how much Ricki gets paid each year (probably not a lot) but to move forward searching for someone from Europe would be a positive approach. There is some good coaches coming through in NZ but with a good group of young players coming through now we need someone to mould them into an exciting attacking side.
Oz have had mixed success opting for foreign coaches over the years, and I'm not saying we should copy them, just keep our options open.
A young coach, who has worked under an experienced manager in Europe for a bit.
I see Middlesbrough FC appointed Jose Mourinho's old number two at Real Madrid as their new manager yesterday (Karanka?)
Nobody. Have a couple of team meetings and decide your tactics there

I know i will cop some shit for bringing his name up but I truly think David O'Leary would be a great import coach for the "All Whites".
He's great with young guys and his style of attacking football with descent defence suits what players we have ATM and coming up.

Just get all the tactics from these forums.

Less than 100K. so unless Fred finds some money down the back of the fax machine, international coach is out of the question.

All they need to do is go out there, pass it around, and have a go. It'll be fine, no need for a coach.
