You said "shots at goal" not shots on target. I think the common interpretation of "shots at goal" includes both shots on and off target.

not correct. 2 goals (Shane and Winston) with shots on target from Chris and Ivan and maybe others do not equal 2.  Its 4 as a minimum, check your facts.
Ah ok, I only saw the earlier post. My apologies

Brazil, Brazil....everywhere I look, it's Brazil - met two lovely Brazilian girls in town today, come home, turn on the tele - there's Michael Palin in Brazil (new series Prime), while last night on Sky Movies Classics - Terry Gilliam's '85 movie "Brazil" - last Wednesday Brazil v Portugal on ESPN...and this Thursday 10 am (NZT) Argentina v Brazil (but looks like the f**kers at ESPN are not showing it now as originally they promised).

I was only guessing from a drunk memory.  You said we had a total of two.  Not the same.

They're also at ACFC v Nix. See latest post from www.aucklandcityfc.com

Does anyone happen to have or know someone with 2 tickets in the Zone for sale?

Would be happy to pay face value - would be going to a good c*** huge Nix fan/Feverite who didn't know there were pre-sales.

I was also stunned but then I learned that he has crappy rural internet and works much harder than most of us slaving away on a farm.

I'm not sure how you can contact me if you do know of something because I don't think email notification works on these forums - please email me on dunedinphoenix at iCloud dot com - thanks!

A-League US ?@ALeagueUS

In other words, according to @rafaramosESPN, the All Whites will play Queretaro and Chivas USA in Los Angeles on October 9 and 12.

Queretaro are currenly 4th in Liga MX, Mexico's top division. They will be in-season and will be decent. They play leagues games on Oct 4 and Oct 18.

Chivas are last in the MLS Western Conference but will still be in-season, just. They play leagues games on Oct 6 and Oct 23.

I'm not too bothered about playing non-international opposition as long as the standard is OK. Better that than scratching around for games against weak CONCACAF countries who won't even be at Queretaro's standard. Queretaro will definitely be a tough game but hopefully not so tough that we don't see any of the ball.

And flying in and out of Los Angeles will probably be as close as we can get to replicating the November trip without actually playing a CONCACAF side.

If any of this is true of course.

We probably could. But what would be the point of playing The Bahamas or Haiti? If we had a game against an EPL side would you be worried? Queretaro might not be EPL standard but they'd be damn close. Chivas more like rubbish Championship but will still be better than a lot of lower ranked CONCACAF sides.

"International" is a bit of a red herring I think.

Haiti are actually quite good. Would Canada or Trinidad & Tobago be pointless opposition in your estimation? These two were an option.

I think you both have points on this.

I think the disappointing thing really, is that it shows our build up for what it is, disappointing. Ok so its not international sides. That's disappointing because they probably should play international sides. However, this is a good alternative (and I base that on nothing more that what TermX just said whose generally on the money). I doubt the club sides will be picking up the tab however where as international sides would. Are Queretaro likely to field their first choice team and play hard against us? If we play Mexico, they are more likely to want to injure us and weaken us (and I speculate on that as well)

Regardless, I think the key for these two games is this. Get the 1st choice team and tactics on and give them as much as you can close to 180 mins as possible and try and get something working. If we are not doing that, then these really are a waste. I expect Ricki to be picking a 1st choice 18 to go and starting 11 otherwise why are we doing this?

Grumpy old bastard alert

Is an international team? That's the problem with friendlies no matter who the opposition is, they are really just opposed training runs.

Yes, it would be awesome if we were playing Trinidad & Tobago or El Salvador, but Queretaro are currently a top 5 side in one of the top 10 leagues in the world. That's pretty decent. I certainly don't think it's worth angsting over or unleashing the "typical NZF, they're so shit" platitudes. No doubt many will though.

As you say Jeff, the most important thing is 180 minutes of football a month out from the real thing.
