Hi there

I was the guy that posted the bid on TradeMe at the price you were asking. I'll understnad if you want to go back for an auction and get more $, but if you want to stuick with the original offer we we can sort it out off-forum if you like.

Cheers

No way man, that was me. But yea, as I was saying just PM me your cell phone number and we'll sort it out off forum.

You could always remove the listing and sell a ticket to me, ill gladly pay the TradeMe fee they charge to remove a listing :)

Bit harder said then done, especially when they've hit reserve already. Trademe will probably end up banning you in that case for trying to complete the sale off trademe.

Like your moral standing now though mikecj83 :)subria2009-10-28 09:50:00

No you can say that you've been contacted by NZ football and ordered to take it down. Or say you have been told it illegal.

Nah it doesn't happen, TradeMe doesn't know if you're gonna complete the sale off TradeMe, you could just change your mind about going to the game , as long as you don't remove bids on a regular basis, or have a genuine enough reason,  they won't ban

Hey guys,

Vinnie from Radio NZ here.  Is anyone here who's gutted to have missed out on tickets, or relieved to have snared some of the final 500, keen to have a brief chat about it for a news story.  Obviously gonna be one helluva game so if you're up to it - send me an email on vinnie.wylie@radionz.co.nz and I'd be keen for a quick word.

cheers

Hey Mike

No worries - I've stuffed up things like that before...

Hey let me know if we can sort something out from here if you're still keen to go through with it. I know I sure the hell am! Even if its just one - maybe Lysergic Bliss can have the other one.

They sold to 2 nix season members (at face value )

It will be a long long long time before I try and sell stuff on there again!

So sorry to everyone who missed out. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it and how dumb I am.

BUGGER!

I'm still on the lookout then - thought I'd lucked out there for a while the way it was shaping up.

Sorry Lysergic Bliss - I tried....

Cheers

PS: I was on Trickytek on the dot of 9 and saw the tickets open - but they'd already all gone within seconds. Methinks something smells a bit there - someone must have got in earlier.

They did seem to go suspiciously fast.
Would love to hear from someone on here who did manage to get tickets online this morning... all I've heard so far is people having missed out (myself included).

Hey if we all miss out we should nominate a particular place for all the 'lost tribe' to catch the game and create what atmosphere we can. After all we'll all have that in common.

Yea, I'm still giong to Wellington for the day / night, have booked accomodation, so if i don't happen to get any tickets then we could get together.  Gordihno if i manage to see a couple of tickets on offer together, and they can't be split, then I will buy one for you and you can pay me later.  Although I can't even find one  , but I'll try :)

Good on ya mikecj for that.

I've never been savvy enough to try Trademe (but my dad has so i cam't use the oldie-techno-phobia excuse).

My sympathies to all of the others who lucked out with tickitek - same thing happened with me for the 7s. There at 9 am and no cigar.

Thanks.

I'm sure one of the Bars (BackBencher, Four Kings) will make a big push to get all the 'floaters' in one place. There's been some talk of a big screen being set up somewhere - who knows if it will pan out.

As for tickets - I'll keep a lookout for you as well if I find any decent options from contacts (I'm pulling every string I can and I'm not done yet...).

I'm not going in to a bidding battle on Trademe though, some of the prices there are getting pretty insane eh!

Cheers

I agree re trademe and am also on the look out for two tickets. I went to buy a single and got a clip around the ear from the better half for my trouble. Then the sold put sign went up.  As for this morning farce, it went in seconds!

I feel gutted for lots of true football fans who have not got tickets....I know a few guys who are not football fans....who have never been to Phoenix game but have bought tickets because its an event like the rugby sevens and " the place to be seen"

Thats life I guess but it does beg the question...WHY THE FERK DIDN"T YOU BUY THEM EARLIER????????????????????????????

Honestly there were more than enough tickets for "true football fans". This is NZ after all.

Not really sure if "true football fans" that missed out on tickets can truly be classed as "true football fans".

I'm not even that into football but am travelling from out of town and planned it ages ago.

It was a stuff up where I thought someone had got me one and they hadn't. I reckon I would have been to more than half the Phoenix home games in the last 3 seasons and I played the beautiful game for more than 10 seasons as well. Suppose that could make me a bit of a fan eh?

Just a bit unlucky this time.

Gordinho sorry mate, I didn't know you were in that situation. My post was a generalisation, but I still stand by what I said. You didn't exactly "miss out" by virtue of leaving it too late, which is what I guess I was getting at. Sounds like you missed out due to friend failure.

I wish you all the best in getting a ticket without being screwed over. Hope to see you there on Nov 14.

Why about hiring out a blimp or something?

No worries - can't disagree that I stuffed up in all that.

My lack of ticket aside - its bloody marvellous that there has been such an avalanche of interest this time round. Who really expected that?

I watched the NZ game here a year or so back, plus the NZ U17 Women's World Cup games as well - and they were great games but the stadium wasn't even 1/4 full for any of them.

So this is awesome. That plus a jaw-dropping Phoenix win last weekend as a warm-up teaser. I suspect there might be a few extras at the next couple of Phoenix home games ...

To me, the best thing about this sellout crowd is that it wipes from history the fact that the biggest crowd ever to attend a football game in New Zealand was to see the LA Galaxy play.

Edit: Mate, send me a PM with your email/cellphone and IF one of our group of 12 drops out then I will let you know. It's pretty damned unlikely though sorry.

Seriously with the game selling out, they should really find some place downtown where they can erect a mammoth screen and screen the game. Even if they charged a donation for charity or something.

I love Wellington, it is known for going "off" for stuff like this, and I am looking forward to a memorable weekend.

call me what you want but i left it late. I got tickets before they (the first 34,500) sold out but i was very close to missing out. Its tough when we argue what a true fan is, in my opinion most true fans would have underestimated the hype because WE all know how many turned up to the other games (around 2,500) and simply assumed we would be able to walk on up on the day (or buy tickets around now)....yet again maybe we should have been organised and pre-booked who knows...All i can say is that I was at the NZ v Vanuatu match and I always watch them play.

What im saying is a "true" fan believes in NZ, we all love the team, we all want the same thing, its selfish, but when we all walk into the stadium and we become brothers in a huge family all chanting for the same thing we are true fans no matter how long we left it to buy tickets or whether we have replica gear etc

I just hope all who really want to be there can get in and can get in at a fair price, I really dislike the fans who are there to be cool and because its the new hip thing to do......I would rather 10,000 true fans over 40,000 half arse bandwageners

good luck for those searching!!!

we could always do a PAO and put ropes out for people to climb into the stadium....haha

Look I'm sorry if I'm out of line. I'm probably a hypocrite as I'm not particularly a "true fan" but do watch football from time to time. I certainly don't follow the leagues although I do pay attention when I hear about Phoenix results in the news.

I certainly wouldn't have been travelling for this game if it wasn't a "big occasion" so I'm one of those that think it's going to be really cool to be there. I'm not there just to piss up and ignore the actual football though.

Good post.
Many just got caught out because they never realised  how big this was going to be. Nobody could of guessed. Who would have thought that they would sell 20,000 in a week....no one!
Even the most optomistic football fan would have thought the you could probably buy tickets on the day.
I was in Europe for the last world cup. I didn't get into any games but there was a hell of a party at the big screen venues. In fact many people who experianced both said they had more fun in front of the big screen.
i know this is small consolation for the ticketless but if they do put up a big screen in town make sure you are there and party like you are in the stadium. If you get a big crowd the atmosphere can be real amazing.

zinidane - perhaps this is because I'm not a "true fan" in the way a lot of Yellow Fever are, but I wanted to secure a ticket before/soon after Game 1.

I always suspected that the game would be very close to selling out if they did "ok" in game 1, which they did.

Hey Ahmad

You're just the sort of guy that we all hope gets along to games and gets into it. I guess we're all hoping NZ wins and it is an awesome occasion so that you and lots of others get hooked.

Some of us who follow it a bit closer didn't see this huge interst coming after a long time of smaller crowds and media disinterest. While I'm gutted I haven't got a ticket I'm thrilled about the reason.

All I'd ask is that everyone along there has a bloody good time, yells and/or sings their head off, cheers NZ excessively to a historic win and doesn't forget how much fun it can be.

It would be amazing if we could get all NZ sports crowds to become as much fun as the football crowds can be. I like watching other stuff like Rugby or whatever but NZ crowds are usually pretty tragic really. The passion and fun is often there (take Southland's Ranfurly Shield win for example, or the 7's circus etc) but it takes lot to wake it up.

Anyway - have a great time. I hear what is being said about how much fun a big screen crowd can be so that might just have to be the plan. I wonder if WCC are interested in coming out to play on that....
