Tsts, deleting a quality post like that...Danes looking good early on, there's a Rincon playing for Colombia.

Germany also looking good in the other game, Costa Rican keeper a bit dodgy.el grapadura2008-10-29 12:04:06

10 minutes in, 0-0 both games. Denmark looking very impressive, they'll be tough.

Great crowds at both games, lots of screaming school children. Mainly watching the Denmark v Colombia game, Colombia just passing it about, Denmark look good going forward. In saying that from the limited 10 minutes I have seen I think our girls have got what it takes to compete with these two teams. Again some of the touch is great to watch.
Did anyone see the Colombians having a sing in the tunnel? Was awesome!

Yeah. I'm just being an ah. EDIT: In response to HN post.

On-topic, Colombia starting to get bit more of the play, but their backline is swimming against pacy Danish forwards.el grapadura2008-10-29 12:16:04

1-0 Germany, long ball to top of the box, good chest control and turn, tidy finish. Could have been defended a bit better though.

1-0 Colombia also. Through ball, lucky break of the ball for the Colombian forward, but good finish to the far post.

Certainly the NZ girls have every reason to be confident of beating one or both of these teams

All over.

Colombia 1 Denmark 1

Germany 5 Costa Rica 0

One of the German girls scored a from a stunning volley from the top of the box. Actually, if anyone has a chance to see the replay/highlights from the German game, do so - the Germans are absolutely awesome. Goals 2 and 5 are amazing, and their overall skill level is very, very impressive.el grapadura2008-10-29 14:39:30

I am,  53 minutes and still 0-0. Decent game and a bit more physical from both sides. The Ghanains(?) have a bucket load of skill on the ball.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Great day out in CHCH.  Was a little chilly with the wind but the football was hot and livened up the atmosphere.  Was fantastic to hand over a lazy tenner and see some quality football.

You guys that hand over more to watch the Phoenix must feel ripped off!  (too obvious troll?)

Went to the North Korea vs Ghana match and both teams were quality.  Played well throughout, although Ghana's keeper must've had a brain explosion when she failed to stop North Korea's goal.  Crowd, unfortunately, was abysmal.  Perhaps just over 2 000, while a friend who went to the Germany vs Costa Rica match said the crowd was about 4 000,

What was the crowd like in Auckland?

Should also add that the ticketing agency was poor.  I only recieved tickets today (discovered them after the game) and as a result my friend and I were mucked around for ages (missing the first half hour of the match) before we were taken into the office and a helpful chap by the name of Brent printed us off some new tickets.

Today's crowds, quoting FIFA's figures:

DPR v. GHA - 453 (And it looked it on the TV - schoolkids scarpered early, eh? :-(( )
CRC v. GER - 4105
DEN v. COL - 6759 (I expected 5-6K for this one, so I'm well happy with this figure!)

Cheers,

There was a red card (as a result of 2 yellows) in yesterdays match in Christchurch.  I think it was for Ghana...
