Was a very emotional piece from Gourdie. Few tears welling up seeing everyone celebrate and go mental.

TV 3 extended the sports news by 10min,so they could still have their token 6-8min of rugby (in a usual 10min sport slot). Sigh.

Least it was an even ratio for once though, and we did lead the news too

I might start an angst thread. I still haven't seen Toni Marsh or Caro Ryan in an AW shirt. C'mon TV3 don't drop the ball at this late stage! (oh bugger I've just used an egg ball euphemism)

Really interesting perspective on Sunday.  Wonder if it would have been on if the game went the other way!

Great story from TV1 - amazing access...

Bumped into a p*ssed James McConie (Crowd Goes Wild and BSport) on Court Pl at around 2am, he was going off, chatted to him for a bit, good bloke but both of us were boozed...

One thing bugged me a little (only minor), was the intro to the Sunday programme where he said something like 'The All Whites put the All Blacks in the shade'.

Does EVERYTHING in our media have to refer back to rugby!

Apparently it does. I remember a few weeks back where there was a big scientific discovery of dinosaur footprints, and they refererred to it as "footprints rarer than a wales win against the allblacks"

Rugby? whats that?

Probably. Particularly when you take into account:

1. Stadium sold out - starting to become a rarity even for tests.
2. ABs playing on the otherside of the world a few hours later (and @ San Siro)
3. The football crowd outpassioned any other stadium crowd by a factor of bucketloads.

Inevitably comparisons need to be made to "benchmark" (feck I hate that management w@nk-speak term, but need to use here) the game against something that the TV audience can relate to.

Imo TV3 probably had the best coverage.  I especially enjoyed the clip re fans outside the stadium watching on the big screen, elsewhere in NZ, & expats in Oz & UK.  Even the rugby fans in Milan were celebrating.  I loved the split screen showing reaction of the fans in 4 different venues when Paston saved the penalty.  Priceless!!

Yes it was awesome!! I just cant get over the atmosphere last night at the ROF. Sea of white, with little bits of black and a dabble of sad red. Brilliant Wellington! or as jim hickey from TV1 would put it Soccer City! No where new zealand could that atmosphere be generated! not in chch, auckland or tim timbuctoo, darkhorse2009-11-15 22:00:58

And a few patches of disappointing yellow - in the form of unoccupied seats.

(Timbuktu is not a city in NZ - closest would be the nicely named settlement Waimihia?)

Yeah, what was up with the unoccupied seats? Did scalpers buy them but couldn't sell them all quickly enough?

just saw a tv one article (dont know from when)

the video at the top

"those who went said it (the atmosphere) was similar to when the lions came, but better because it was a game that actually mattered"

WTF i went to that lions game and it was boring as sh*t. No atmosphere whatsoever despite smashing them.

I turned down a place in the Members "Corporate" boxes and may be able to explain some of this.

- Members get free entry into every event at the Stadium except for a few special ones (like RWC)

- Members get entry into the Lounge, but still have a seat allocated to them in "the bowl". Therefore they are free to move between the lounge and their seat in the bowl as they please

- The Lounge has limited *additional* capacity. I found this out when we were planning to go in a group of 3-4 and only had 2 Lounge entries. While stocks last, Members are able to purchase "Guest passes" to get extra people in with them. However, in addition to paying for the Guest pass (around $50 I believe), you also have to have a valid entry ticket to the game (so in this case you pay $50 plus the cheapest entry ticket you can buy ie. $29)

- Some members have no interest at all in the football, and did not take the opportunity to hand these on or even sell access on to someone else. Perhaps they did not want the hassle of handing over their passes to a stranger and then having to have them returned. Personally I would have charged for the privilege, and asked for a deposit to cover the cost of replacement of the card (which is possible) if it was never returned

I hope this helps explain why there was so much yellow in the crowd, which I agree was disappointing. There may be "health and safety" reasons that the Stadium cannot be filled in the bowl as well as the Lounge(s) meaning people need to reserve a spot in both those places.

P.S. I thought I might regret my only chance to be in the Member's Lounge at Wellington Stadium but there is no way you could have paid me to be in any other seat on Saturday!!

Back to business as usual at TV1 then.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Nothing? Or you don't know.

TV3 was good. Although it is the first time i can remember them ever doing a substantial piece on the Nix, with interviews of the players and such. .

Still feel a little bit of resentment, for jumping on the bandwagon. All Good progress i guess.

All Aboard the Phoenix/ All Whites Bandwagon!!
