Did you all get this...??

TVNZ SPORT EXTRA WILL SCREEN LIVE COVERAGE OF THE MEN'S WORLD CUP FOOTBALL. TVNZ Sport Extra is available on Freeview, EPG position 20.

Last week, the All Whites beat Vanuatu 2-1 in their World Cup qualifier in Port Villa. Now they will enter Wednesday's return leg against Vanuatu in Wellington with a five point buffer atop the Oceania Nations Cup standings after Fiji - whom the All Whites beat 2-0 in Lautoka on October 17.

The exciting second leg All Whites vs Vanuatu match will screen LIVE on TVNZ Sport Extra at 6pm* on Wednesday 21 November. It will be shown later that night on TV ONE at 10.35pm.*

Then on Tuesday 27 November, TVNZ Sport Extra will show live the match between Sydney and Galaxy Football at 10:30pm.*

On Saturday 1 December, TVNZ Sport Extra will replay the Wellington-based Phoenix vs Galaxy game at 10pm* (following the live game on TV ONE at 7.20pm).

*Times may vary

A victim of poor scheduling, if anything. You can't blame TVNZ for not wanting to shirk its news hour - its major cash cow - in favour of a football game, unfortunately.

If only it was scheduled for Saturday around, say, 4pm...

yeah but its a qualifier involving 2 rather average-to-poor teams in the grand scheme of things. as patriotic as i am i wudnt pay to watch the AW's (Phoenix is a different ballgame) or the AB's for that matter.

Don't understand that... but then I travelled to Auckland in January to watch the U-20 quals so priorities are different.  Price is too steep, timing isn't perfect but it's the All Whites FFS, for only the second competitive time in 8 years...you find money, you change plans and you watch them.

I love the Phoenix but I've followed the All Whites for longer through everything.

What a shame you have that attitude. Are you waiting for Brazil to turn up?

I would have gone to the match if it was in Auckland! But then I also bought a Knights season ticket!

I can't believe it isn't live on the council telly, its not as if TV1 has to much sport on!!

Both of those competitions are shown live on a pay television network's sports channel -- different kettle of fish.

And more to the point, tonight's game is being streamed live over the internet as well as being shown live on Freeview. What are you complaining about?

edit:

ahhh but ask tvnz and they would tell you they are playing it live, just on there sh*tty digital noone buys me cos i already have sky decoder extra crap channels service. who was the idiot at tvnz that didnt make there freeview channels available through sky (would defeat the purpose) but it was just dumb. and u cnt even see it on the net out of nz! im fuking, ohh well radio sport it is, is it dewhurst or piney?

Yeah, it blows that these channels aren't on Sky yet. I'm not entirely sure on the specifics, but I believe Sky were waiting on the full range of Freeview channels to start broadcasting (the ones owned by TV3 specifically) before taking it on board their service. It would make perfect sense given that the whole point of Freeview is to assist NZ television's switch from analogue to 100% digital service, and it would defeat the purpose if the #1 purveyor of digital television in the country was left outside.

But yeah, this blows, but I can understand the logic behind it.

Us ex-Knight season ticket holders should receive complementary Phoenix tickets and flights for compensation of all grief and stress suffered.

I'm in australia and it won't let me watch on the TVNZ site. Anyone know of a radio station that would let me hear the match online?

There is a link off the main page at tvnz.co.nz too now.

I might just wait until 10.30 and watch it on tv I find watching streaming internet coverage a bit frustrating... By the way, double click on the video to make it full screen.

cheers :) I'm at work - at an ISP no less so the streaming quality is pretty good - can't do full screen tho.

f**k TVNZ, at it yet again! Freeview - yeah right, free for $200 dollars. I can't believe those pricks at Sky either. right now US Gridiron, cricket (And those f**ken Ruugby League hightlights) highlights, Darts, Rugby Focus & fishing! For f**ks sake !!

the biggest game in the world - football, and what do we get? Shafted yet again. Some of us could not get into watch the game! Well done TVNZ (acronym for Liars) & Sky.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

They should of put it on TV2 or give the rights to Sky, instead of putting it live on freeview. TVNZ sucks

I wonder if there is a money issue here? In the past FNZ have had to pay for coverage. Maybe TVNZ offered the cheaper deal? I guess we may never know. Why a 6pm kick-off? Heard a rumour it was to accommodate Killen flying back to Scotland? Fact or fiction.

watched most of it on TVNZ site, and was quite happy with it.

It streamed well, was live action, and since I couldnt get to the game itself, this is a good option
