I lost faith with any betting feed after this or even some news feed. Screw them all.

Well according to the news it was 2-1 (0-1) lost. With Smeltz having an early goal from a ten minute penalty and the Tanzanians scoring their second goal at the 89th minute.

Apparently, the team's match fitness was a concern being 11 days out form the Confederation Cup. . . . not a surprise at all with most players are home-based with hardly any game time for months.

Chris Woods was impressive with work ethic and some pace on him. Tony Lochhead and Tim Brown has recovered enough to play against Botswana on Sunday morning. Chris Killen and Simon Elliot arrive a day early and came on the 55th minute from the bench to substitute Chris Wood and Jeremy Christie.

Appears that it looks more of a training run.

We really need our match fitness. I am surprised that they haven't had a couple of behind the doors practice against a couple of selection XI before going over.

Hopefully they get up to speed for the World Cup playoffs in between Confeds and WC playoffs somehow because there is nearly three months. You would think them play a central, southern and northern selections just to keep the fitness up.

Actually come to think about, why don't we have a central, southern and northern selection based on state of origin selection to make things competitive??

New Zealand v Italy will be live on SuperSports 3 (South African satellite channel) at 2030 local time on Wednesday night. This raises this possibility that it will be streamed on iraqgoals.net

When do they not provide TV coverage of the Italian team playing? It's liked expecting not getting any coverage of the All Black when they are playing. They just had Italy vs Northern Ireland, I hardly expect their media hounds not to pick up the Italy game.

I can somewhat understand the Tanzania and Botswana games not getting picked up because of the sad facilities for the television cameras and media lounge etc. But it would be crazy not to media gear up the Italian game.

So I am sooo looking forward to the game.

I can see it now channel 37 Football channel.

Checking on the Sky tv guide nothing scheduled around game time. There is Fifa World cup programme on Sky Sport Two at 7 am, plus live coverage of Netherlands v Norway qualifier on ESPN around same time...BUT NOTHING re NZ v WORLD CHAMPIONS!!
Friendly or not this IS a big deal.
C'mon Sky,... Please sort it!!

For Italy this is little more than a training session. We are lucky that this is being played in South Africa where there is a broadcaster with eight dedicated sports channels and therefore plenty of production capacity, otherwise there would be nothing.

I think we should just bombared sky with complaint emails etc about not showing the game. it is very import I feel for football in nz. Im sure a nation like the cook islands would broadcast the game if they played the all blacks.

We can watch Australia vs the Barbarians in rugby, but not the ALL WHITES VS ITALY!? WTF!

We really do get f*cked up the ass by the networks here.

Have to agree with Smithy on that, our sport broadcasters think we'd rather watch a game of rugby between two teams which have nothing to do with us than one of our own national teams, especially when football is the largest participation sport in NZ and only getting bigger!!

Atleast it will be on the net. Is the Wednesday morning NZ time??

just rang Sky      0800 759 759
to voice my displeasure at there being no scheduled coverage on Sky for NZ v Italy.
A nice chap called Sunil answered..cheers Sunil..  He apologised that he couldn't view our website
to see our notes of displeasure cos....there was no power in the building so his computer wasn't running and he had no lights either!
I quickly established he was not in some call centre in Mumbai... but actually in a Sky building in Penrose, Auckland, bravely manning the phones with no power all around him. He was keen to tell me he would pass on my request to Sky Tv to broadcast the match.
To Sky NZ,  I can understand now why  you keep sending those reminder notices for me to pay the bill, sure times are tough..you must be feeling it too, eh? ..if I promise to pay on time next month will you please show us  NZ v Italy Thursday am ,630 ish to 9ish?
Cheers for that.

Unfortunately, statistics will show that this is actually the case, if "we" means NZ as a whole.  Exponentially more people care about rugby in NZ than care about football.

The viewing figures for the home leg of the All Whites' WCQ - which will be 7.35pm on a Saturday night - i.e. prime time - will draw a smaller audience than an average S14 game in the same time slot.

Very true.

It would be good if NZ Football took a little initiative and maybe provide a live scoring facility on their website or even have someone who is at the match do a live blog with updates. Would mean that those who are interested don't have to troll through cyberspace looking for match updates and scores. My .02c

(I did note that Soccernet look like they will have live scoring/commentry for Italy game:http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/match?id=266772&league=FIFA.FRIENDLY&cc=3436)

Its times like these that make me realise I would definitely pay for a dedicated football channel on Sky

Live Scoring would be brilliant Kop. Perhaps NZ Football  and Radio NZ or the other media reps over there ought to get together and develop a "no.8 wire" live update facility for us. If in future the service was good we would probably even pay for it. Data feed via GSM mobiles, live txt update, what ever.

We had this discussion re a dedicated Football channel on TV a while back.I certainly wish I could watch football at any time too but it seemed it wouldn't be financially viable, some said.
Interesting to note the higher profile Rugby League has on tv now with programmes like 40/20. shows what might happen when New Zealand is the World Champion team.
The more success the All Whites have, the more we'll see of NZ football on TV  I guess.

SCANDALOUS!!! Why aren't the newspapers attacking the TV networks? A game against the World Champions in the biggest sport of the world and not one blip.

Imagine if (and a big if) it was a 1-1 draw, it would have to pasted across the sporting page in the newspaper and people would be wondering why there was not any TV coverage on the big game. We the NZ public would lose out, again.

Are we getting any TV coverage of the away WCQ match? Or is that too far away for them to get off their lazy bums?

It's such a frustrating uphill battle for us.

They even bother with Brazil in 2006 but can't be dorked to deal with the World Champions Italy. What a bloody insult!!

I hope we nab a draw so we can dish the TV networks as having discrimination against the All Whites. This is a high profile game outside of the World cup and confederations events. Hell, even the Malaysia game was shown a few years back.

We have to be the only major team sport to achieve such inconsistencies from a TV network for a national team.AllWhitebelievr2009-06-09 03:06:25

Manu, Try this link, on the day
They don't seem to advertise their programs in advance, but they have live coverage of all the European team games as far as I have seen.

International Footbal Replay

This is what their tv guide has to say. In the heading they refer to it as a "replay" but then go on saying it's LIVE coverage...

It doesnt say anything about it on the Sky Guide in the decoder itself.

can you see that far ahead on your decoder? I went online and found that. Does anyone know the time difference between NZ and SA? I mean, do you think that Thursday, 630 am HERE roughly means that the game could be live?
