TVNZ Coverage of Live Games- How best to complain?

Just a quick question on an issue which I hope will be resolved quickly and easier (and perhaps even without me doing anything).

How best to get TVNZ to put a running game clock and score?

This morning SA vs. Mexico only flashed up the score and time at 10 minute intervals (at the bottom main section of the screen).

I thought this was due to the host broadcaster but later saw the replay on SKY and also talked to a friend who watched SA/Mex on SKY - they had a clock and score in the top left corner as would be normal.

Hope someone at TVNZ is reading this. Not sure why it was omitted this morning but seems a huge oversight.

Sorry I can't access TVNZ at the moment from where I am.

I'd normally do the usual email and never get a response thing but this surely is something that someone just reads about and then fixes (for tomorrow morning USA vs. England).

Unless it's one of those widescreen issues. If you've got a square tv it does cut bits off the side.

I wouldn't have a clue if anyone from the sports department reads these forums.

I was watching in Freeview HD (widescreen, correctly formatted), but good question to ask.

It was definitely missing (I could see the entire One|HD watermark).

Try ringing in that case

Welcome to TVNZ's feedback page
For general enquiries, please phone 09 916 7000. If you have a story idea you would like to share with ONE News you can email news@tvnz.co.nz or phone 0800 886397

you could also ask why on earth they are choosing to show the usa england match on tvnz7, It's ridiculous to say the least.

There is probably some agreement with SKY to limit the games on One. Obviously SKY has a vested interest in as little free to air as possible, an as high as the uptake has been for Freeview, it isn't 100%.

LOL fault logged with the newsroom. Of course they couldn't help but I pressured them to at least undertake to try and pass the message onto someone within the organisation.

Fark me this sh*t again? It was the same at Euro 08.

Hopefully they sort it out. Seems a bit ridiculous.simon_hampton2010-06-12 19:24:17

The joys of having sky. Not that this helped your problem.

I cracked up at Martin Devlin on his TV one coverage. He looked dead tired while trying to be humerous.

What happened then? Did someone realise and then remember to flick the switch all of a sudden?

I must say that it was nice for a change to have all of the screen real estate dedicated to the beautiful high definition game but it got a bit tiresome looking at the real clock and working out how many minutes since kick-off it had been.

I like that cam shot from the game where its hooked up on cables and just glides to most angles capturing the game. I like that. Must be even better on 3D TV

Yeah, I think it was a global problem though. So a bit different. But surely it's not hard for TVNZ to find a clock somewhere.

Well since they surely get the same pictures as SKY and SKY had the clock....

Is it completely stupid and pointless to broadcast the game without the running clock or is it simply a "personal preference" thing?

I can't recall anyone ever screening a rugby game without a clock.

I just feel like fitting as many swearword combinations into the complaint form as possible for their coverage. But that is as unproductive as Ferrantes first touch.

Seriously don't see TVNZ giving a toss about it. Whole Freeview thing would be the main cause of this.Azevo2010-06-12 21:29:51

Come on, you might not be able to afford SKY but surely as a football fan you'd invest in FreeviewHD for the world cup.

I even went out and bought a new TV for the bedroom (because it was on special, might not have otherwise) as well as cabling for the aerial to the bedroom.

Glorious watching the clear reception and widescreen glory.

Some of us are old enough to remember when this was always the case when watching live games!

It was only when Sky Sports in the UK (in the UK at least, don't know about here) starting broadcasting the EPL that it all changed.

You're better off using the general enquiries number. I don't mean to assume how diligent or not the folks are in news but what happens in most other large companies when you complain to the wrong place?

Also, end of the day, set the stop watch on your cellphone and make do.

Poor student here. Could maybe stream games online, but that would rape our bandwidth.

Pretty rough sailing, have been going to pub for as many games as I can, so far that's served well.

Gonna have to invest in the old freeview thing soon anyway, analogue gets cut next year doesn't it?

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

Don't think it's next year but will be next few years. Most new TVs have them built in as standard so you might want to consider that instead of buying a $200 box. My 26" TV was only $560 on special. Great for the bedroom so far this Cup.

TVNZ dropped the ball again! Their facebook said that they can't understand why it was different as they should get the same FIFA feed but I checked (on Sky) this morning and flicked between SS2 and TVNZ7 - no clock on 7.

The best way to complain is to get Sky.

Itd line their pockets so they can buy more football rights in the future?

Seriously, the more people that get sky for football, the more interested theyll be in showing it.

One thing that annoyed me about the TVNZ highlights show was that they didn't spend 5 seconds showing us the team lineups prior to the game.

For the Arg v Nigeria game they spent about 2-3 minutes with some magazine style intro showing history, expectations etc from each country, who cares? Show us the lineups!

I have SKY and watch what i can, but an hour long show is a good way to catch up...

Agree with previous comment, Devlin looked uncomfortable...
