None of my friends in the Canadian footy community had heard of this news when I sent them the NewsHub story and they were totally shocked. Haven't seen it in any of the media over there yet either, but could be because the story came out over here when it was fairly late in most parts of Canada. Will check the sites again tomorrow and see if my friends have any further info. I guess we just have to wait and see.
On social media Canadians seem to be think it's a negotiating tactic from Herdman to get more money when he extends, they seem to think he's pulled other stunts to get what he wants. Of course, take all that with a grain of salt. It would be very unprofessional for him to agree to terms with NZ, to the point that NZ tells all other candidates that they don't have the job, only to back out, and football is a very small community.
Yep, I'm hearing the same thing. It would be so unprofessional of him if it ends up being true. He's certainly surprised a lot of people in the Canadian footy community in any case.
