WC Prize Money - how to spend it

Alot of people are saying we need to do this and do that in regards to coaches, specialists and friendlies and we simply can't afford it.

However, should we qualify for the WC we will get a minimum 10 million dollars prize money.

With this money we could do some serious work building the game in New Zealand, particularly with the youth, who we could send on tours etc, getting them exposed to quality opposition at an early age and seen by clubs around the world etc.

Certainly some money should go to the players and to the All Whites friendly programme prior to the WC to help us prepare, but i really think that we should use the funds to build a stronger youth base and support structure.

I would not hire a new coach, as others have touted, you can not fire the coach who gets you to the world cup, and besides, really quality coaches wouldn't look at us because we wont win and it will do their reputations no good.

I've changed the name of this topic to try and get a bit more discussion and I think it is a good topic.

So the question is, if we make it to the World Cup and get 10m or whatever prize money, what do we spend it on?

Yours please

I would spend it on a speedboat and some hookers

Shouldn't we qualify for the World Cup first before planning how to spend the money?

Who fired him? The Knights? I would have to if I owned that team

First of all, I want to second the hookers idea.  Don't agree with the speedboat (if you had a load of hookers, why would you leave the house?) but I firmly believe that hookers are a viable option.

If it turns out that there is money left over from a hand shandy for all the lads, then money has to be pumped into the current squad as well as the other teams (womens, yoof, etc).  It is all well and good saying to invest in the future, but a great part of our future is in the current senior squad.  You cannot have someone like Chris Wood score a goal that sends us to the WC (with  the $10 million pay out that goes with it) to find that he never gets to play a significant game at international level again, as all the money is spent elsewhere.

I am all for spending the cash on the ladies, the kids and the national league, but not at the expense of the squad that got it all for us.

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked

Suspect a significant chunk of it will go to the players, so they won't be out in the cold.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I've already spent the $30 milliion I'm winning on Lotto tomorrow. Might include a new pair of boots.

This is actually a better idea. I hope NZF have purchased a Big Wednesday ticket, it is fiscally irresponsible if they have not.

Regardless of the source of income a speedboat and hookers have to be part of the picture. That would be an advantage of winning Big Wednesday - not having to shell out for the speedboat.

The question with regard to hookers though, is do we go for quality or quantity?

Get a few top-notch ones, or have an army of the cheap ones?

You'll have to ask the players if they're OK sharing.

Priority

1.) Hire a World Cup coach specialist. (Ricki & Brian will still need to be involved) there will be quality coaches looking for a challenge. Either Philippe Troussier or Jovan Vieira are available and will be priced at least US$640,000 They each have an excellent track record and have immense African, Asian and Europe experience with clubs and international. They have picked up weak national teams and turn them about to win cups as well as take them beyond what they should do in tournaments. Both have very strong tactical and strategic minds. (up to ~ $750,000)
2.) Player financial reward => tournament incentives and training allowances and playing bonuses. (~$500,000).
3.) Friendly matches pre-WC build up. (~$750,000).
4.) Create a boarder trust fund for youth football elite players scholarships.
5.) Reserve Funds and use some of the interest to create ongoing football continuity in the country. includes some that will go into building a football curriculum.
6.) NZFC or any national league competition format will have to be sort out financial function in some other way.

Keep going to World Cups, keep growing the reserve funds slowly over the time and use the interest of the money strategically for the country's football interest.

Good point. We'll need some on the speedboat to keep the hookers happy.

I'm not interested in keeping the hookers happy, they should be happy they are getting paid.  I'll keep the rest of us happy.

Anyway, the big question is (apart from whether we spend it on the NZFC or the U17s), where do we want this speedboat to be based?  I'd say monte carlo but we might not be in the right league there, so I'm going to say off the coast of Croatia

It's not really cheap - but inexpensive, yes.

I say Montenegro. Even cheaper. And there's plenty of Russian mobsters hanging around to do shady deals with.

Just win big wednesday then smoke some weed. Put 10mil towards the youngins and then another 10 towards the females 10mil on the nzfc and to get a backing for the next couple of years on it. Sell the cars to get more cash and then get tv rights for nzfc and all nz games

NZF should use the money to line Sepp Blatters pockets to assure easy entry into the AFC...
