We're all going on a Summer Holiday

In case you know of any folk planning to go and see the AWs playing Fiji in Apia, I've just had an email come in from Holiday Shoppe advertising Samoa travel package deals, on sale till 16 Jan. Here's the link:

Having stayed in Apia, I'd recommend Aggie Greys Lagoon Resort to all-comers (based on the feedback from some who were staying there), but there are cheaper options - it's defo the priciest hotel in Apia.

There are a couple of other hotels mentioned on the site if you shop around which are probably better for the budget, and just as good. Aggie Greys Hotel & Bungalows is close to where I stayed, and where all the FIFA folk who were at the tournament were based. The Insel Fehmarn Hotel is where the New Zealand side stayed while in Apia last time.

Get a hire car right from the outset. The airport is a good 45 minutes out from town, while the resort itself, as well as Insel Fehmarn, is a wee way away from the main drag, as are The J.S. Blatter Playing Fields, where the game will take place. AG H&B is on the main drag, right on the waterfront - you look out onto the port. There's an internet place nearby which sells wicked ice-creams, while there's a decent chippy just round the corner.

Another recommendation to anyone going from one who has been there - use plenty of suncream and keep your fluid intake up.
