Sorry if this has been already mentioned, but i was wondering were the New Zealand leg of the play off with the 5th ranked Asian side would be played? Would it be North Harbour or Wellington, or even somewhere else?

Cheers

It hasnt been determined yet. Its been suggested that attendances at the U17 womans world cup will be a factor

Judging on what's been going on so far this year, Auckland is probably the favourite at this stage.

North Harbour is the home of NZ Football. It will be played there for sure.

A dog with a bone :)

Auckland has a bad reputation of crowd numbers but recently that has improved. 7000 for AWs mid week was pretty good. U 17 WC has been great 13000 at first game and 11000 at 2nd for NZ. With the knights that was pretty embarrising, but then so was the play. They weren't winning and weren't even scoring! first game in the second a-league season knights got 7000 to game. thats pretty good when the previous season they came last with 6 points and didn't even win at home!

Yeah i think this is real intresting, because i no alot of wellingtonians that just assumed that it would be here. But with North Harbour being the home of Football, and the succes of the u17s im not sure, would love to see a packed out RoF Kitted out in white noise tho. Images of the aussies beating Uruguay come to mind

last night's Korea vs England game confirmed for me that the game should not be in Auckland if it's Korea or Japan that we have to play.  We will need all of the advantages that we can get, and playing either of these sides in Auckand will end up with as many (if not more) Koreans or Japanese in the crowd.

Although I guess that's assuming NZF are actually thinking about winning the tie - if it's just gate receipts that they're after, then just bump up the prices and play it in Auckland.

And dilute the home crowd advantage by having huge support for the opposition team. I'm sure the All Whites would love to play such an important game, at home, with the crowd cheering on the opposition.

From a marketing standpoint, yes, you're right. From a football standpoint, I'd rather not give up home advantage for such a crucial game.

Home of "NZ Football", as in the administrative body, not the "home" of the sport. NZF is headquarted in Albany IIRC.

Here's an idea - swop the NZF home with the NZRUs big building. That way we're all happy.
