The AW's need some tought games, why play friendlys against weak teams and when it comes to playing the 5th placed Asian national team we loose?. Im not saying i think playing 5 games against Brazil would help, but you would have to consider better options then below par Asian sides?

The playoff will take place in November 2009 - some sources say 14th and 21st, but the 18th and 21st would be more consistent with the FIFA calendar and previous World Cup qualifying campaigns.
On 17 June 2009, at the latest, the potential opposition will be down to two teams. On 14 October 2009, we will know who NZ will be playing.

OK, so for argument's sake, here are the FIFA rankings for these teams...
GROUP 1
Australia 35
Japan 38
Uzbekistan 58
Bahrain 72
Qatar 83
GROUP 2
South Korea 45
Iran 48
Saudi Arabia 54
UAE 95
North Korea 118
So, based solely on rankings, it could be Uzbekistan or Saudi Arabia that stands between New Zealand and South Africa 2010.
New Zealand are ranked 88th by the way.
