Sunday star times have reported that Auckland would love to Co-host the 2018 World cup with Australia. Are they serious? in the words of a little australian (mitre 10 advertisment, "ya dreaming mate".

Lets get one thing straight. Australia's bid is there bid alone, There is no way in hell that they or FIFA would allow a Co-host bid. Australia has the infrastructure and stadia to host alone. They have done there homework and put alot of time and effort into bidding for 2018/22.

Would be interested in your opinions.

Havnt FIFA ruled out co-hosting?
"Chile and Argentina had shown some interest as a joint bid, hoping to follow the same path as Korea-Japan 2002, but withdrew after joint bids were not allowed" - From wikipedia

Money talks.  If we said, 'no automatic spot for NZ' it may be a possibility.
It the very least we should look at an Under-20 World Cup.

There's other joint bids being planned so I don't they've actually been banned.

Edit: (but I also don't think there's any chance of us getting any World Cup games here.).Colvinator2009-12-06 13:10:26

Still like the idea of us hosting an U-20 World Cup.  That'd be awesome.  Hopefully Ricki would snatch a few quality youngsters for the Phoenix.

Heard now Melbourne AFL is having probs with how a bid might work..aka no other competing sports allowed in WC window.

A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

Well I read that Australia have said no. If they do win the bid I still think it would benefit Us in a big way.

To be honest, if Australia is having a world cup final, I would be so hacked out if we are not able to get into one of the 31 spots. Having the world cup so close but not having a team in it, is so depressing.
