World Cup Merchandise - let the whoring begin!!!

Hi everyone. I have been off the scene as I have been travelling in Asia (telling my disbelieving friends about NZ qualifying for the World Cup and showing them photos and videos of the great night).

Anyway I am currently in Indonesia and just picked up my first World Cup 2010 memorabilia in the form of a mug:

I presume it isn't a fake product even though this is Indonesia because it was sold by a supermarket chain that has a mailer advertising all sorts of World Cup merchandise (most of which hasn't hit the store yet).

Price? A bargain at $2.10! Try finding this at the $2 shop :p

On a side note have been watching heaps of football. Haven't seen a minute of rugby. Even went to watch Hong Kong lose to China at the East Asian Games after they shocked Korea 4-1 in the tournament opener. They went on to shock the other Korea and then Japan to end up surprise winners of the tournament which they hosted - the first title Hong Kong has ever won!

Indonesia plays Oman on Wednesday but I won't be getting to the game due to geographical challenges. They seem to fill stadia here for their national league (18 teams) so I would expect a decent crowd come Wednesday.

Happy new year guys :)ahmad2010-01-04 05:01:20

Yeah I should really bring some home. Have already bought 2 more for local friends so that we can enjoy a coffee "together" in front of our respective TVs for AW vs Italy!

The WC SA 2010 logo is "copyright 2005" WTF? Made me wonder if it was a fake but unlikely given the advertising from the outlet claiming to be the place for offcial merchandise.

Awkward crease in the small one, looks like it says:

CELIBATE.  Football is Life.

Which is quite a statement.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I like the ones put out for the Bahrain game better.

The ends remind me of an All Blacks scarf

tbh I wouldn't want to fly that one around South Africa too much, there's no real mention of NZ on there. I'll stick with Nov 14 one!!
