Shaping up as an interesting season -

Hawker Bay could be 2nd after their catch up game. That would be very interesting if it stayed that way.

So now we have a 3 way tie for 1st. What with SU upsetting The West Auckland Rabbits yesterday and the fact that anything can happen in the playoff format it's looking interesting this season.

I'm actually hoping to see a team outside of Auckland finish 2nd because then it opens the O League up around the country (and invariably it will be Waitakere and they will implode in spectacular fashion)

Was talking to a guy yesterday in that they were banking on that CWC cash the year Hekari went to do up their facilities. Guess complacency never helps.

I think ACFC's clash with Canterbury on the 26th is shaping to be a critical game. I don't think WU will make the top three in the end, they're dropping too many games. Would be great if Canterbury or Hawkes Bay made the O League along with ACFC. They have decent support and good facilities, unlike WU or unfortunately TW. Thoroughly enjoying this season.

Nice one - in the 3 or 4 weeks since I started this thread Waitak have slipped from 1st to 5th. Well keen for HBU or CU to be 2nd O-league team.

for several months a few of you guys were warning us that this was going to happen - so well done.  it started with bill mcg and his huge salary, then the removal of paul marshall, then the appointment of shelley and temple and i guess all this has resulted in what is a very good team on paper being crap.

Thanks Scousekiwi. I think this weekend's ACFC clash with Waitakere could be important for all the top four teams. A City win would make it tough for the westies to make second spot and would really open the door for Canterbury or Hawke's Bay to grab an O League spot. Here's hoping.

10 out of ten for stating the bleeding obvious Blue!
Be very lucky to get 500 at this derby game which should attract at least 2000+

If I understand this correctly... should AFC and TW both make the final, that puts TW into the OCL as next best finisher regardless of the result (AFC having already been given a spot as top finisher after the regular season) .. ?

First , get to your final ...

If ACFC wins the final it's TW in the O League next year (would the Phoenix be able to lend them players?). If Waitakere wins the final it's ACFC and Waitakere in the O League as far as I know. If Waitakere make final against TW then you have the beat the Westies. At least if this happens the final will be in Wellington.

So lots of good vibes from Wellington this weekend for ACFC to beat WU thank you.

First you must get past HBU in the playoffs so get off your arses and support TW you lot. A $600,000+ pot of O League gold and the Fifa Club World Cup in 2015 awaits.

Had no idea there were 2nd legs of each semi. TW and HB still have everything to play for. Safe to say Waitakere will miss out on the O-League though

TW and HBU still have everything to play for in second leg in Wellington on Saturday. The ASBP final and the 2015 O league await. Nice to have so much at stake.

So just to clarify . Auckland and Waitakere play in the 2014 O League. Is that a two week tournament in May , does that include semis and finals

In 2015, Auckland , Wellington/ Hawkes Bay will play in the O League

It's good to see another team qualify for the O League. they should be under no illusions to how much it's cost to play in O League

That's right Fan.

I personally think NZF should line it up so you come straight out of the ASBP into O League as you qualified. It would mean that a qualifier for a season would be skipped. What happens if TW or HBU finish last next year as the worst team in the comp? They go straight into an O League and get whooped. I think it would make better sense to line it up so the rights that are won are for the tournament following and as that team is together and prepared, it just makes a better lead in.

The only way you could do it is say to next seasons 14/15 ASBP teams that there is no qualification tied to O League because next year will be ACFC and TW/HBU. The 15/16 season you then go straight out of ASBP into O League.

I agree, think it makes sense.
