2017 OCL final | TeeDubs vs ACFC | 2nd leg - Sun 7 May | 1:00pm | Davey F
Tough end to an excellent season. Jose and Team Welly should be proud of what they've achieved. No shame in falling at the biggest hurdle in their first season under a new coach.
Congrats to Auckland. Shame they had to act the way they did on the field. Too good of side to need to time waste and milk fouls from the first minute.
As much as I hate to say it, congratulations to Auckland City. 7 in a row is one hell of an effort.
Good season for TeeDubs no less - SSP retained against a rejuvenated lot of teams, and you've got another crack at the OCL next season.
Can anyone confirm that the rules are changing for next years OFC.
I heard there is going to be a limit on the amount of imports you can have on the field? 4 was number being mentioned. Not sure if this is correct.

It would certainly level the playing field!
what was the crowd number?

Gee if this is so then Auckland will be unable to field a team
Depends on what the regulations are, if it's 2 years resident or something then most of the City imports have been here easily that long. If it's elligibility for NZ then it would be more dodgy.

Team welly would be just as severely affected
Team Wellington had only 3 imports in the starting line up on Sunday that I can see.
I personally think the final was lost in the first leg, where TW just didn't turn up and got a right spanking.
Yesterday, the game was a lot more even, and although ACFC ended up winning by 2, TW put on a much better display.
A crucial point for me was around the 25-30' when TW had a very good chance courtesy of a header in the six yard box which went straight to the keeper. Had we scored there, I think the game might have been quite different.
But ACFC defending was exceptional, and they played a flawless game, putting us under pressure every time we had the ball and counter attacking efficiently. Yes, there was some diving/wasting time on their part, but I for one believed TW played a very physical game, so that was to be expected.
Great day for football - it would be nice to find out how many attended the game at DF - it surely looked like a packed house.
Shame for the result, but let's face it, a 3-0 victory always looked very unlikely.
Hopefully we'll have better luck next season.

OFC has 1,000 but don't know how accurate that is as they had the same for Auckland and bang on 1,000 at both is amazing odds.

they had 950 for the semi final when there was about 700 there
Yesterday's game I would guess around 8-900
There were about 50 ACFC fans that made the trip down

Heard they charged $15.00 per person entry for the Auckland leg!

Aye that's the standard price for Auckland City games
[/quote] Every entrant to the ground was put in to a click counter
So what was the final number?

Shock horror, trying to treat the game as if it has value!

Pretty poor from a 6-time defending champion bringing a 3-0 lead into the match. What were they afraid of?
No problem with them sitting back, defending their lead & hitting TW on the counter (which they did comfortably), but the attitude stinks. Ramon for the Nix? Based on that, no thanks. Melbourne City might be a better fit.

I dare say TW or anyone would have time wasted/not been in any great hurry in same position
didn't do a report on the game cause that would be boring instead here are some thoughts on the game
Infantino wants the Club World Cup increased to 32 teams and played in the European off-season in June / July.
No details yet but it could mean more teams from Oceania I guess.
Maybe it will consist of something like: the quarter-finalists from the UEFA Champions League, the quarter-finalists from the Copa Libertadores, the semi-finalists from the African Champions League, semi-finalists from the CONCACAF Champions Cup, the semi-finalists from the Asian Champions League and the semi-finalists from the OFC Champions League.
As it is, the tournament only has a following in South America and Spain and Infantino wants to broaden its appeal in Europe, Africa, CONCACAF and Asia.
December is not a good time to hold it for European clubs and June / July would be better.

What? I could understand, though I hate it too, the 48-teams World Cup, but a 32-teams Club World Cup??? That's insane

the sooner the better in my book, because this will surely mean nzf stop letting their national league be ruined by wanting teams playing in nov-dec ahead of it
