soon hopefully
See Canterbury playing Tasman in pre season friendly on October 12th
The season starts the weekend of November 3/4 and the grand final is set to be on April 19 next year – two weeks later than recent years at both ends.

Hopefully they avoid the semis clashing with the March FIFA window, has happened this year from memory.
Contributing factor, to not sending an AWs side to that Malaysian quadrangular tourney, when invited.
Hopefully someone at NZF remembers that!
Though now with 19 NZ available players on full time A League contracts, and the better players from last Handy Prem season, now scattered around the world at pro clubs - don't see many being picked even for an under strength AWs side (or NZ/Aus based AWs team), from the national league.
Likes of Howieson, Henry Cameron & Adam Mitchell possible exceptions.

Super. That won’t clash with Central Northern and Southern leagues at all then.
this is getting silly youth league starts early October need a draw in next week!

Moving forward there will be very few if any getting picked up from the Handy Prem as more kiwis venture into professional teams around the world. Whilst it makes for a great story/yarn, I did find it a little cringey when commentators would talk about our amatuer players getting a great chance on the global stage as it reinforced the lack of quality/depth in our game to a quirky novelty.
just seen a notification on Twitter fro ACFC mentioning Youth League draw release by NZF. When open it said Tweet deleted ?????

Here.
I might make the effort to go to Seddon to catch a few NYL games

Perhaps not a big deal, but I see Handy Prem will play through March 2020 FIFA window (March 23rd-31st).
Remember unavailability of Handy Prem players in the March 2019 FIFA window, effectively meant NZF cancelled invitation to that Malaysian tourney AWs were invited too.
A similar Asian tourney in March 2020 could be useful prep for OFC Nations Cup, which I presume is happening May-June 2020.
Wonder what the deal is with Sky this year. Clubs still paying out the wazoo for the privilege? Southern getting the short end of the televised stick again.
TV Appearances
Auckland City 6 (3 home, 3 away)
Eastern Suburbs 5 (3h, 2a)
Tasman United 4 (2h,2a)
Team Wellington 4 (1h,3a)
Weenix 3 (all home)
Waitakere United 3 (2h,1a)
Hawkes Bay United 3 (2h,1a)
Canterbury United 3 (1h,2a)
Wanderers 3 (1h,2a)
Southern United 2 (both away)
Give us (Southern) a refund.

Bigger issue here might be clashing with any under-23s preparation if they qualify.

Refund of what?

Oh, are Sky doing it for free now?

Not 100% sure - but I heard that was in the pipeline - alternatively we have not heard that NZF have put a contribution to cover the SKY service in the entry fee this season either - so unless someone can confirm that either way.....
Looks like they are bringing back the midweek highlights show though - that's good news.
this all sounds very encouraging chopah
it's great having any tv coverage at all tbh
Surely we're only interested in away game coverage, when we can't make it to the game, right? So apart from the Phoenix reserves, we all get 1, 2 or 3, so it's all much of a muchness.
Unless you're thinking that watching the emptiness of Porritt or Trusts Stadium will entice others to come to your beautiful city?
I am generally working (I have shop hours, but no one will tell me off if I watch Skygo/Live Streams while I'm open) when the games are on so can't make it to home games, so for me I'm interested in both home and away games.
Absolutely all teams should be trying to attract more people to the grounds for home games though.
Also good news re: Sky and the highlights package.

Good point. Though makes some sense for NZF to wait until European seasons are all finished about May 2020, before organising an extensive pre Olympics build up program.
Not only will there be about 10 or more first choice squad U23 players coming from Europe, but the 3 overage players, that will not have been involved previously - and probably never been coached by Buckingham before - will also likely come from up North. The over age players esp (Wood, Thomas & Reid stand out as those selections if fit), are unlikely to be released by their Euro clubs in March, as club seasons come to the business end.
NZF might as well save their pennies and invest in a quality buildup from May-June onwards.
That's all assuming of course, they win in Fiji this week.

Ah, good point, didn't think of that.
In terms of attracting people to their home games, my mind flicks back to this image from last year... Crowd, pitch and typo.
In other news, all registered Canty players were issued with free season passes for Pride and Utd games this season. Well, I say free, but we took over Canty Utd debts of around $70k so yer, I guess it's as free as interest free purchases are.
Will be interesting to see what effect it has on crowd numbers, I went to a Pride game and it looked roughly about the same, however I could be mistaken.

Well the crowd would be on the same side as the camera, sitting on the embankment or in the cafe part at Sunnyvale. Please don't get started on the stream (I like how it exists but yeah). And all the games* are on the new Logan Park Turf/Forsyth Barr this year so no more abominations like the above.

TBF re the stream they did learn and it got better as the year went on, so hopefully they'll be all good this year

Hoyle's at Eastern Suburbs now if that's the link.
But aren't they a Kiwi club that doesn't use imports to win the league?
Thats what Declan tells us.

Sacramento to Hawkes Bay and Ferguson to Cant Utd
Document from.NZF spelling out the future of the national league.
That seems to be the world's most complex pro/rel system.
