Oh my! I do hope he does well like Riera has. It just keeps on emphasising the point that the ASBP is worth watching. Come on down at the weekend everyone and watch a NZ game - kids are free every week!

I endorse your enthusiam - sadly far to many others don't share your welcoming approach (in my experience).

Putting a posititive spin on it - how can ACFC and Waitakere gain more support (obviously the latter needs it more than the former).

Ideas?

From memory you dodn't like coming to ACFC games because you feel unwelcome or rather you feel that they don't include other clubs apart from Central? Have you been to any games? If not, what would entice you? If so, what would improve the experience for you and encourage you back again?

I'm a total addict and will go to extreme lengths to get to the games so I'm not the best to answer your questions. But someone who has been once or twice but not really got into it would be better equipped to suggest improvements.

Like you Ali I love the atmosphere at Kiwitea Street, easily the best in the country for watching football. Three young Brazilian lads studying here turned up for the TW game and even joined in the singing. Said they loved the passion and humour, reminded them of Brazil. They're coming back for the next home game. The trouble is too many NZers/Brits are too dour for their own good, if they turn up they keep quiet. I don't understaand going to a football match and not getting involved. Think the Phoenix suffer this problem too.

Infact only 2 of the 13 teams in Grading actually completed there full amount games

Ellerslie being one of them

And I think only 3 of the current youth league squad will not be eligible next year

Did Wanderers ask Ellerslie about any players before naming there squads?

And if so how many of your players are in those squads?

I hope not after the result yesterday.....

Gutted for Albert but now he's injured possibly for the season if the Nix get an emergency replacement clearance from FFA. Who from the ASBPREM do you think they would look at especially as it frees up an import slot.

good question,i assume we're looking for a midfielder, so

it seems that chris bale has turned into (more of a) nutter, otherwise, i would have said he would be an ideal replacement.

peverley is not a passer like riera

clapham is more of a runner and not in the riera class in the defensive third in terms of ball retention and movement

someone who knows more about nik robson might like to comment on him

jake butler anyone?

The two I would go for are ACFC defender John Irvine (better than Sigmund or Manny imho) and obviously Clapham, who would be more of an attacking midfielder than Riera. What's obvious at the Phoenix is without the terrier quality of Riera then Lia is exposed in midfield by his shortcomings in passing. Still think any number of ASBP forwards could replace Brockie.

John Irving is not a bad shout because you can push Manny into the midfield.

I'm intrigued in these 'any number of forwards' Please name these Kiwis - they just signed Watson and probably the best of the imports (Krishna) has shown nothing......

I'm pleased that John has lived up to my billing, he would go well as a right back, I think his abilities would be better suited to the Nix than Boxall. Let's get this done, Ernie!

Krishna has hardly had any game time to prove himself so far. You honestly think he wouldn't have been a better option than an ineffectual Brockie against MH.

Outside transfer window so (I think) would need permission from FFA

Yeah, believe it would need an emergency clearance thingy, to use the technical term. Worth a shot to improve the squad, regardless of who it is who they want to bring in.

They allowed us to pick up ASB Premiership players on 1 week contracts for Rnd 27 last season. But we were struggling to put a team on the park for that game, so not sure if they would allow that to happen again.

Really time to start pushing for that Youth team (If not already) then you dont need to sign players on short term contracts.

As Andy Harper said recently its time to scrap the short term contracts so that Youth players get game time across all teams when clubs have a few injuries

We are allowed a NYL team, as long as we are willing to pay for it ourselves. That is the problem, the cost of running one.

What would be of higher quality, A League Youth Team League or ASBP?  I would have thought ASBP.

Correct. Unjust that YHM were removed and sets a dangerous precedent. Do Southern now get removed or do we remove Wanderers because they're shit?

Costs $50,000 each time the team travels to Aus. Not sure where anyone can find that find of money.

OK you figure out where a budget of in the region of $2 to $3m to fund a team that will have little commercial appeal is going to come from?

Yeah but thats the 1st team though who always take more staff than needed and stay longer and in  better hotels etc..
Youth team could be done a lot cheaper but take your point would still be expensive.

It's more than just results that is considered in those scenarios however. Anyway, this isn't happening, Southern are in the league until 2015-2016 regardless of whatever goes on down there.

Six goals conceded in 15 minutes might be an international (i.e. Guinness) record for a national first division result. Anyone interested in checking/applying for the record? I can't be arsed.

Nor can I, but I'd hazard a guess that it isn't (At least in competitive matches, there's been plenty more in fixed games obviously).

There are really two ways to take that result, but one will start a forum riot, so lets not go there.

Forum riot sounds good. Let's go. Woo hoo!

Probably a bit high. Assuming 50k for each trip for the 9 trips. Add in wages, insurance, coaching. Probably looking at close to a million.

North QLD Fury are trying to get a NYL & W-League team re-admitted within two years, they reckon it will cost them one million a year to run them both. I would suggest that is a bit optimistic given previous figures they were quoting for just a NYL team.
