Speaking of curtain raisers - Canterbury United v. Waikato FC will be held as a curtain raiser for Nix v. Adelaide at AMI Stadium.

Cool. Must get along to a few more Manawatu games this year. Will be interesting to see David Mulligan playing for Auckland City.

Stoked Nelson gets a game! Haven't followed the NZFC last year, anyone give me a few key players on either team? Just so I can help spread the word.Luis Garcia2010-09-03 19:27:09

Anyones guess.

With the more heavily enforced amateur rules and player movements no one knows who will be where.  Wait until the squads are polished up and we'll give you a preview.

Interesting.

As I thought A-League rules meant teams weren't allowed curtain raiser games.

Think the rule is that the field has to be clear for 2 hours before hand.  Hence the 2pm ko and 7pm ko for the nix.

Plenty of time to head to the pub in between.

I'd suggest people take any Team Wellington draws with a grain of salt at this stage.

Apparently a number of Canterbury United games are at Linfield Sports Ground.  Anybody ever heard of it or know where that is?  I also see that the games are spread around a few venues which is a poor idea.  The pre-Nix game at AMI Stadium is fine by me but if we keep moving it'll be weird and I'm sure a number of people* will turn up to the wrong place on occasion.

I think I read somewhere your normal ground is being done up for part of the season (artificial being installed?), hence the shifting about.

First three matches due to laying of artificial turf.
Save for the Nelson and AMI matches, the rest should be at English Park. So shouldn't be TOO chaotic.

Meanwhile, Monk said there would be announcements next week about the senior YoungHeart side and the franchise's academy.

With the ASB Premiership having its amateur status reinforced this year, franchises are signing players to work as academy coaches and have them play for the senior side.

YoungHeart Manawatu also have a friendly against the proposed Wellington Phoenix reserve team on Wednesday, December 8, at Memorial Park

Up $90 from last year, although I suppose you get the tickets too the Nix and a Dragons tee.

Manawatu have done this with Jason Hayne. He'll be coaching the academy side.

This is something different I think. Last year they did a package similar to this which was around $100, and also a normal season pass for $50. As I said earlier I'm not sure how they will do a season pass this year with games at Lancaster Park and in Nelson.

Canterbury United Dragons season pass is again $50 which gives entry into all home ASB Premiership games for the Dragons regardless of venue.
That means you get the $30 ticket for the Phoenix game at AMI as well.
Remember the Dragons have a home game at AMI before the Phoenix game.

See you there then. Yoiu don't get that deal watching the oval ball.

Can you please clarify if that was your serious opinion or just a wind up?
