Can't believe they are the top two teams in the country!

Although some guys did manage to kick the ball really high!!!

Looked like it was the referee's first game ever...

Waitak deserved it tho'! At least it shut's the AC supporters up...
They have 2 chants:

"C'mon City"
and "C'mon Chadwick" (Chadwick can also be replaced by Siggy), sounded like those 2 were the only ones playing...

Must have been different fans then.

When I was at an Auckland City game the other week I think they must have managed about 70 minutes without a repeated  chant.

That game was a poor exhibition for football but classic of NZ. If you were taking along a person who had never seen the game in the hopes of converting him, they would never watch another kick again.

Crap football and crap officiating.

It might have been a poor game but both sides could not afford to lose. It turned into one of those games that has neither side comfortable with playing and putting the ball at risk. We know both sides can play but isnt it interesting that they both closed each other down so quick that neither side could get any momentum.

Referee was appaling and it didnt help that either team could work out what his call were going to be.

Makes for an interesting rest of the season.

Wasn't a local ref, was it?

I agree with HN about the chants, the ACFC fans were chanting pretty impressively against Otago. (Mind you, they were pretty quiet at FTP against Ytak a couple of weeks later)

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Ref and his lino were a disgrace. You'd think they'd get proper officials in for a game worth $1 million.

Also to the OP, i didn't hear any Ytak fans sing? Did you?

Sadly you'd be surprised HN, the amount of people who stood up and cheered when Pearce scored and the final whistle went. Didn't hear a peep out of them during the game though.

Oh, and we also did:

1 Team in Auckland
You are my Grant Young
clap clap clap clap clap, City
Walking in a City Wonderland
We are City
You don't know what you're doing

So dunno what OP's on about 2 chants.

Yeah the Ultra brothers were both present. Nah we didn't do the chant for Chad. Loz the diplomat managed to say something cynical about Steven Old despite the fact he was only 3 rows in front of us.

Missed it - as I have the last few games at CCC. Transport a prob since the second car died. Still it would have needed a chopper to get there after work in the traffic.
Anyone know when or if Kiwitea St will be back in action.

Siggy as per usual for City. Lee worked hard too but the rest were rather average, especially Pavo and Calamity Williams. Back four of Ytak played well but they were rubbish up front.

Three for me, and two for them.

I thought Siggy was very good but overall both defences stopped most attacks. City had a couple of chances in the first half but Waitakere hit the post and if anything they shaded the first half marginally. the second half was even until Waitak scored and then City got on top but Waitak were defintely happy to defend 1-0. It was really a game between two even teams. Waitakere's goal came from a cross and no one went with Allan Pearce but the header should have been saved. A mistake by city and they scored.

Waitak sat back after that and just soaked up a lot of pressure and City should have scored but squandered some chances - Grant Young in particular missed a chance he would normally bury.

Waitak played with a back 3 - interesting formation they play with. It looks like a 3-4-3 with the two wide strikers stopping channel passes so most passes end up on the heads of Emblen, Hay and Perry. Tactically they seem to have it all over City but City have better players they just dont seem to have a plan to break down Waitak's defence . . . surely that has to change.

Totori, Pearce (apart from the goal), Kopricvic and Menapi struggled to break down City's back four but from what I could see most of that was because the two midfield 4's cancelled each other out and very few quality passes were successful. It looks to me that if you close down city's midfield passing game then they struggle to penetrate even with Youngy.

Neither side can be happy with how they played but Waitak must be happy they won - fair result would have been a draw in reality.

Up to your usual high standard ted, well done.

Was the above example of being a f**kwit beacuse you actually think that ACFC are a better team than the Phoenix, or are you dragging us down your usual "Australian team, blah, blah, Australian League, blah, don't take our gravy of us" line?

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Quality post ted, well done.

If you actually read what I posted:

1. I referred to be being a f**kwit mainly due to the abusive language in your original post. No need.
2. I didn't state that, at any time, ACFC had played against the Wellington Phoenix
3. I, at no time, have stated an opinion on who are the better side so, therefore, your entire premise for calling me names is invalid as it is based on comments which I have not actually made.
4. Chill out ted. Had a bad day?

Yup, those guys are the caring, intelligent face of ACFC .

I try very hard not to tar all ACFC fans with the happyted brush when I'm posting on here.

For the 2 top teams in the league, it doesnt boast well for the nzfc future. One of the worst games seen in years. Auckland resorted back to there old tactics of kickn it as high and as far as they could wheres Waitakere seemed to pick up where auckland left off by kicking it even futher and higher. Disgraceful football for the 2 top teams of the nzfc.
