Is that what they've recorded as income? From memory, they should be getting around half of the prize money, which is US$500,000 for getting knocked out in the first game.

But yes, very likely that Jose is going back to Auckland now.

yup. Maybe they take a smaller share now?

Also worth noting they got about $663k from the Trillion Trust last year. Which is more than other clubs get from all sources of revenue.

Jose has just left Team Wellington, not too much of a stretch at all and he used to coach there.

Well he has announced even though he is leaving TeeDubs, he's staying in Wellington, so the point is moot.

TW press release appears wrong and as said above was tacked on by them and not actually said by Jose. His other role is Auckland based with NZF so it makes sense that he is moving up there to coach Auckland City as well.

Until his second child is born (if not already) he is based in Wgtn (commuting for NZF coaching). Then Jose and his wife will transition  the family back to Auckland.

Crappy year, this. Roma in the pits, Nix and TW seasons nothing to write home about, the whole Rudan debacle and now this... Might take up lawn bowls next year and save me a stomach ulcer.

Well what a surprise this is Jose to Auckland city what odds would the bookies given. The good oil says he was tapped up during the season to take over from Ramon, apparently the old boys from Central/Ak City were getting sick of Ramon's style of football recruitment and his wages expect to see Jack Henry Sinclair and the other Auckland boy's return. Maybe it won't matter if the league doesn't go ahead due to guess what no funding. Anyway good luck Jose it would have been nice to see you at a club with no money for players and see if you can coach joe average players.

Aye was a terrible style (/s) am pretty sure they hated going through the season unbeaten!

Think it was more the effect of missing CWC money and also once the Carlos bloke from Barcelona who took the youth, took a job in Ecuador it was a chance to save some money

Be interesting to see who stays at ACFC, besides Mario Illich (who is a Central guy anyway) and maybe JHS not many from Team Welllington that  would walk into ACFC team, maybe Andy Bevin, but doubt he'd move

Given Jose's record at Youth league and also winning the NRFL with Central (when his brief was to focus on developing youth) and then the last 3 years at TW (who have struggled for money) I reckon he's not bad at coaching some joe average players

Team Welly were not average they had the wood on city on a few occasions just saying he's lead a charmed life since Paul Smalley looked after him He's a computer coach lets see if he can do it without being able to work with players not in the elite bracket so to speak because speak he can

Hmmm. Was it Team Wellington who outed ACFC this year from the Handa? and last year from OFC. Went to the World Cup and held their own for 120 mins. So the TW players are joe average?  Coaching helps, but you have to have something decent to work with first. Would not expect them to come close ACFC or  ALAin if this was the case. Yes, they have had an up and down season this year. Probably many variables for that.

The move back to Auckland was Family orientated I believe, not football related.

Charge sounds like a bit of a yarn, but I have heard the same thing. Questionable personnel choices and unwillingness to budge from philosophy had a bunch of the old boys frustrated...

I've heard a similar comment made about hid mate Temple, from a well respected coach who's worked at nix and with national teams in the past.

Ive worked with Jose in the past. Your comment about him being a computer coach is one full of ignorance. He can design and run training sessions that are first class. Charmed life since Paul Smalley looked after him? good grief people do spout some drivel in here, usually those who have never coached and have no idea what goes into the actual act of coaching.

Personnel choices as in matchday squads? I agree, was quite strange to see a very raw Bonsu-Maro being selected over a much more talented import in Lopez just because he didn't fit the system perfectly, among other strange choices

I think he was actually talking about Ramon (which TBH makes his statement even more ridiculous) - a computer coach hahahaha

Had ACFC listened to the old boys as every one says they do Ramon would have been gone after his 2nd season

Jose's record for Team Welly v ACFC was Played 13, won 3, drew 3 lost 7 - yes two of the wins were the National League finals, but Ramon won the OCL champions league games, which were the more important ones (when TW "beat" ACFC in the OCL semi finals it was on away goals  after a 0-0 and 2-2 draw)

Jose is good at getting the best out of players as a team, Ramon did have the luxury of players that could change the game on their own, but he was also very good at changing his teams tactics if things weren't going right

I think getting Jose was a good move for ACFC, but he does have very big shoes to fill

Lack of CWC money starting to bite at ACFC?

Same agent/connections as Tade?  Never give up on that pro football dream I guess - Tade (age 31), Morgan & Lea'alafa both 28.

Maritzburg United are based in Pietermaritzburg, about an hour from Durban.

AmaZulu United - Tade's old PSL club, and De Jong's current club - call Durban home. Presume the two clubs have some sort of Natal derby rivalry going on.

Maritzburg were involved in the relegation playoffs last PSL season but managed to survive the drop.

Whilst there is a slight rivalry between AmaZulu and Maritzburg, the main rivalry in KwaZulu-Natal is AmaZulu and fellow Durban club, Golden Arrows. Maritzburg United are a small (relatively) but well-run club in the provincial capital. They've been known to cause a few surprises over the years but really struggled last season. Will be interesting to see how they get on under Eric Tinkler in 2019/20.
