Which ever entity it is they will need to be creative, re hiding any player payments as the new national league model becomes totally 'amateur'.

Central could have a senior team named ACFC

Sam Brotherton and Kayne Vincent have signed for ACFC

http://www.aucklandcityfc.com/news/1297/12/Brother...

That's a cluster of 6 (7 if Patterson signed as well) ex AWs at Kiwitea St. Though probably all in the 'ex' camp.

Nix could do worse than keep an eye on Brotherton over the next few months. Still a bit light at CB, and 2 injuries away from a potential crisis.

Piney mentioned him as a Nix prospect recently.

Very interested to see how Vincent goes.  Looks like he was most recently in the third tier of Thai football, so he'll presumably be making a big step back up.

You know we belong together...

that would make it as much of a fudgeing joke as it is now.

I think the club we knew as Central will go on as Auckland City - might even see central re-form at Croatian Cultural Society as their home ground.

Amazing for Zubikarai to be part of.

A more detailed story about it here:

http://www.aucklandcityfc.com/news/1308/12/Lionel-Messis-gift-for-Zubikarai-/

Keep going down past where the article ends for some interesting information on "Eñaut Zubikarai - Factfile"
Some high-profile games  he was part of.

He was mainly back-up to famous Chilean goalie Claudio Bravo and Antoine Griezmann was also a team mate, both going on to sign for Barcelona.

Someone has updated Zubikarai's Wikipedia page with some interesting information I wasn't aware of, on his standing in international records for longest runs with a clean sheet:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E%C3%B1aut_Zubikarai

"As part of a stellar defense which saw the team only allow 12 goals during the 2017–18 season as they won the New Zealand Football Championship title, he went 1,404 minutes or 15 games without conceding a goal in all competitions, beginning in the 70th minute of a 1–1 home draw against Southern United FC on 13 January 2018 and ending in the 37th minute of a 2–2 draw to Team Wellington on 29 April in the semi-finals of the OFC Champions League. This exploit constituted the third-longest streak of its kind of all time – behind Mazarópi and Thabet El-Batal – as well as the longest of the 21st century, and of any European goalkeeper."

Not much impact when coming off the bench today.

Not enough of a showing to judge on though. Give him a chance!  Of the 4 who played high up the pitch today, they're all very different players - Vincent/Logan/Dylan/Awad

No, there wasn't. The dreadful news is that I took my little girl and she wants to keep going to games at that ground. I've bred a fan of the Trillian Shamateurs. :(

He has been excellent for them and a good role model with all their younger ones. Have to say Tade was superb to watch for city, such silky skills and can score great goals.

Haven't been to a game this season as it clashes with my club game, but I didn't play yesterday due to sickness, so managed to get along yesterday vs West Coast. ACFC dominated for the majority of the game, but seemed a little disjointed.
There were a few players I didn't recognise from last season, I'm assuming they're kids? Where was the likes of Kaltak, Vale etc? Saw Tade in the stands injured :(

Are these all ACFC Youth players as injury cover or have they been starting?

Muller hasn’t started too much until last couple weeks I believe, but the others have been relatively consistently starting. The Northern League rules mean every team has to start 2 under 20 players (born on or after 1 January 2001) and City’s ISPS team didn’t really have any, except Carey who got a couple of late appearances, so they’ve had to bring in new guys to be regulars. Their squad is big as well, so they’ve been rotating a lot, for example previous 2 games had been Bilen/Kaltack at CB, yesterday Mitchell/Brotherton

Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere? Will they bother going if they have to do 2 weeks MIQ upon return (going through Xmas-New Years), that they would likely have to pay for?

I guess if they lose game 1, they are back in NZ Dec 10-11th, so out of MIQ Dec 24-25th?

That prevents the huge problem of Auckland City being in Japan at the same time as the final stages of the National League towards the end of December (if it happens ?). suspect that might have been known before plans were made for the National League as i can't see how ACFC would have got spots in MIQ. anyway.

New venue confirmed a few weeks ago as the UAE, and event pushed back to 'early 2022'. So no Xmas MIQ for ACFC. In fact by early 2022, they may miss having to do MIQ altogether upon return to NZ.

Risk being underdone though, playing months after their last competitive game in NZ. I guess they will try play Nix Ressies in some warmup games in NZ, once the Auckland border opens. WeeNix will be keen to keep their guys match fit through the summer, as some could be called into the first team squad over the A League season.

Edit -  And looks like they will need a new coach for CWC.
Auckland City FC today confirmed that José Figueira will finish up as head coach at the conclusion of his contract this year. https://bit.ly/3o4MeNO

https://www.eurosport.com/football/chelsea-news-fifa-confirm-relocated-2021-club-world-cup-will-be-hosted-by-the-united-arab-emirates-i_sto8593376/story.shtml

Infantino also confirmed that all 211 member nations of the body would convene on December 20 for a global summit meeting and presentation about the "future of football".

"It was decided that the Club World Cup 2021 will be played in early 2022," Infantino said at a FIFA council meeting.

"The host will be the United Arab Emirates, the UAE, who have hosted this event already a few times."

Auckland City of New Zealand and Al Ahly, winners of the CAF Champions League, are the two other teams confirmed for the competition with Chelsea.

I see Jose's contract hasn't been renewed after this season with the club claiming they need to be 'leaner'. Just to note ACFC had income of $938k in the year to June 2020.

Be interesting to see where he goes, doesn't seem like Ramon's been up to much since leaving ACFC so it appears that (assuming Ramon wanted a career in coaching) it's pretty hard to get the opportunity to jump up to that next level.

He might try and wrangle a Bazley type gig, coach 3 different clubs all at the same time. Surely some clubs out there stupid enough to do that.

Completely dominated Al Jazira back in 2017, lost to a freak wonderstrike. Keen to see a rematch, ACFC won't trouble them much this time in all honesty but it's a rare occasion to test ourselves against a pro foreign side nowadays
