If i remember correctly Team Wellington have never beaten Auckland City in any match since the beginning of the NZFC. Can they overtake history?
I am picking a 1-1 draw with the home semi final being in Wellington.
Reasons: No Uhlmann and Sigmund. Makes city weak in defence and their cover seems to be young players. The young players may be able to cope but against a team that is scoring a lot could be difficult.
Who wins the semi-final will depend on where it is.
I take it you're discounting the possibility that we might not have to play Auckland at all in the semis. We only need to have Waitakere lose to Otago 3-0 and for us to beat Auckland 3-0....
Why would TW winning break the Auckland domination exactly? We came 3rd behind Manawatu last year and the year before that Waitak didn't even make the playoffs, despite the fact they encompassed the top 5 teams.
City to win 2-1. But i'd rather lose to TW on Sat and beat Waitak on Wed night if i'm honest with you.
Three for me, and two for them.

Well if we pick Sinkora, you're in the money.

Yes all three teams could win the Grand Final at the moment. Regardless the outcome on Saturday it is going to be Auckland or Wgtn playing Waitakere in the final (unless of course Otago do something so unusual as to score 3 or 4 goals past a team who has conceded 12 all year but hey its footy - could happen)
either way everyone's season is now coming to a head and as Jacobs said the other day all the teams seem to be waiting to get going. I am so looking forward to Sunday's game - going to be a bloody cracker

I question whether easy wins are enough when City will have played some really tough games against Waitakere and will be a lot more battle hardened.
What is working in TW favour is the suspension of the two Centre Backs and the fact City have to play 3 tough games in one week, which also includes a trip to tahiti. When Waitakere came back from Tahiti they looked absolutely buggered in the last O-league game so if TW is ever going to beat City then it will be this game. Lose and they might as well not show up for the semi-final.

TW will win. AC to choke at home. TW to win the grand final and O-League next year.
Botafogo - Rio de Janeiro and Wellington Phoenix, my two teams til death do us part.
this is definitely the best opportunity for TW to beat them!!! could be a good bet today.....

Heartbreak for Team Wellington as their seven match unbeaten run in the New Zealand Football Championship comes to an end in the most dramatic way against a ten man Auckland City side.
Needing just a draw with Auckland to secure second spot in the NZFC and a home semi final against the same opponent next weekend, Team Wellington looked to have done all they had to with the scores locked up at two apiece and the game deep into added time at the end of the match.
But with 15 seconds remaining on the clock Kereyn Jordan stole in at the back post to knock in the winning goal and secure the Aucklanders second spot in the table and the all important home advantage for next week's play off.
Auckland started the better of the two sides and went ahead in the 17th minute when Sam Campbell opened the scoring. But this is a resilient Team Wellington and within three minutes the game was level when Darren Cheriton equalised.
Auckland took the lead again when Grant Young netted six minutes from the break and took that advantage into halftime.
Raf de Gregorio had the game level again in the 68th minute when he struck a superb 38m free kick high into the Auckland net before Jordan's heartbreaker at the end.
what a suprise!!! will we be seeing you next week or still saving for those aussie season tickets
Do you know what nemesis means

Yesterday, I believe Hard News was sideline at morning football watching his son, off to Petone Memorial for the first half of Petone v Miramar then dashing off over the hill to Wainui to play for his Naenae side in the afternoon (a team he organises and plays for along with two lunch time five aside teams and at least one evening indoor side). Today he was playing with his Sunday League side in the early afternoon before texting me every twenty minutes with updates from the TW Auckland City clash. He also chips in on this forum from time to time when he gets a moment.
Im not sure what Feverish did today - possibly watching one of Waterside's womens' teams - but yesterday he was at Karori Park from about 10am as Wharfies Club Captain getting the changing rooms organised and making sure the six football pitches were ready to go for opening day of the season. After taking care of that he had to get ready for his his own match at 2:30 - before reassuming his Club Captaincy responsibilities in the clubrooms.
And thats just what im aware of.
I think they do their bit and take just a wee bit of interest in football in this country too.
I tend to tolerate most of your nonsense HT - but that did bug me bc it was so childish.

Is Tamati Williams actually up to the NZFC standard? The few times I've seen him either live or via television highlights, he seems to be culpable for many a goal...
