Anyone out there attend this game yesterday would love to know your thoughts.....

I went, thought Waikato were in it up too halftime, however in saying that Auckland always looked dangerous going forward. Baffling decision by waikato to take off Matt Friel whom i thought was the best waikato player on the park to be replaced by a very unfit looking Watene.

Great finish for the first one and wasnt surprised by the penalty decision .....as for the tackle, melee and then wilkinson snr show i think something needs to be done about that, and the fact that the waikato management refuse too talk at the aftermatch is nothing short of unprofessional and childish.

If it wasnt for a players father, winter club chairman and journo's action no one from waikato would have spoken - must say nice speech to danny..

Wilkinson should be banned for that tackle, it was truly horrendous.

Dunno if anyone else say Roger jump on the pitch during that melee but he grabbed Feneridis by the throat and I think something should be done about that too, but sadly i think all officials missed it.

Gonna be a bit skint at the back against Welly now that Greg and Siggy are both suspended for it.

Three for me, and two for them.

Didn't get a great view of the Wilkinson incident as i was over the other side of the field but if Wilkinson came onto the field then he should have been sent off.
Uhlmann a little bit unlucky although it was a clumsy tackle that could have done some damage if he had properly connected.
Niyonsabas penalty a joke - blatant dive !
AC will be a bit shy of players for the Tw clash unless some of their injured players are back.
Will also be ripe for the picking after playing in tahiti this weekend and against Waitakere mid week.

Didn't he grab a player by the throat or something? From all accounts (I wasn't at the game) Uhlman was hard done by.

Can someone tell me why Roger thinks his son can play football when its blatanly obvious that he can't?

Nah, he was trying to grab Riki but lucky for him he was held back.

Uhlmann's sending off was a joke and not even worthy of a free kick.

Sam? well, NZ's biggest fanny dancer! nuff said..................

Hope for Waikatos sake Roger and sprog MOVE ON  next season.

Waikato's goalie, as was city's, were really outstanding.
I liked Beattie, lots of passion and commitment. Friel not half bad as with a good number of his team mates.
Waikato 's does itself a disservice building a team around the coaches son. Wilky jnr should take up knitting/golf/rugby. Infact both Wilkinsons should move on to (who cares) for the good of Waikato football.

To the small band of Waikato  players who stayed behind for the after match speeches, good on ya, did your club proud.

Great speech Danny. QUALITY.

Waikato get yourselves soughted for next season before you're replaced by another Auckland Team.

Yes i think we can all agree Waikato played fairly well and carried themselves out quite professionally apart from the dickhead Wilkinsons.

Three for me, and two for them.

Quality - pity I missed it - sounds like all sorts of fun.
What was Rogers reason for not attendimng post match? Other than being shown up as over glorified sideline Dad?

I, as a Waikato supporter, was proud of the way we played. We tried to move the ball well and we had a couple of chances. City deserved their win and probably deserved to win by more. Jordan missed some chances that he would normally have snapped up but I am proud how we played. We just need to become more penetrative. At times we could have pushed on but we just kept the ball without attacking. Annoying really but we have the nucleus of a team that may get better in the future.

The spat at the end was embarassing. A coach entering the field to grab a player, he should have been sent from the bench. The ref didnt help himself as he should have been a lot more in control.

I thought the ref was abyssmal and have since found out he was the ref who sent off Waitakere goalkeeper in Manawatu. He is so far out of his depth and seems very young.

Roger did attend the post-match.  He spent a lot of the time talking with Keith Pritchett.

He said he had to go. Admittedly it did take a while to get around to the speeches - I'd had four pints myself by then - but I believe Roger should have spoken.

Roger has not spoken at any home matches this season and to my knowledge, only at Napier in away matches. Still, it's part of the game here that seems to be dying.

Last time in Auckland Mark Cossey spoke for Waikato. It made little impact on the MC. "Thanks Roger," he said when Mark was finished.

Incidentally, Auckland didn't cover themselves in glory with the speeches on Saturday either, in my opinion.

When the MC made a fuss about Roger not speaking, I approached the Mc and said Dan Robinson would happily speak instead. He said no, it was too late, nobody from Waikato would be allowed to speak. It was as if he had his own agenda as well.

Thankfully Ivan Vuksich saw it differently, and allowed Robinson to speak.

Ivan also made a hurried dash for the mike when the same MC sl*gged the referees - who were present - for not doing justice to the match. it remains to be seen if he was quick enough to avoid a $500 fine.  I hope so. it was good to hear some home truths spoken rather than the trite platitudes we too often get (apart from at waikato, where you don't get anything.)

I used to think Greg got his stupidity from his dad and was just an idiot, but this year, Greg has proven that he can play and concentrate on 90min football.

Usually its the son that shames the father but I think that is seriously starting to change in this case.

Wow,

Sounds like a really entertaining match! What happened with the whole Wilkinson incident? Who did he "tackle" to get sent off? And what happened with Uhlman getting sent?
