HI ALL.
My name is Charlie Inverso, Im a College Soccer coach in the States. My team is Mercer.
I read in one of the previous posts that Waikato FC have signed one of my past players Boomer Kotchin.
Just like to wish him all the best and good luck to Waikato for the season.
Boomer will do well for you guys, he's a goal maker and a hard worker, the fans loved him here!
GOOD LUCK FROM MERCER!

From what i saw of Boomer at Melville he was generally one of the best players at Gower park. He will be a great signing for Waikato. In fact Waikato have made a few other good signings too - Steven Holloways one for sure, hes a proven goal scorer and could prove to be a match winner for waikato when they need someone to pop up for a goal. I can definitly see Waikato being a far better side than what they were last season and could be this seasons surprize package... possibly even reaching the soaring heights they did in the innagural year of the nzfc.

Boomer joined Melville United for the final third of the season and made an immediate impact, with a good goals-games ratio from midfield. His input was a significant factor in Melville gaining promotion. He was particularly effective against the mug teams, which he could carve apart.

With Waikato FC he appears to be more on the fringe. It may be a confidence thing, but from what I have seen so far of Boomer at Waikato, he has not played to his full ability. Still, it's early days.

i watched boomer in there match last sunday.... he came on and sliced the ball on his shot and then got pulled up for a throwin, i think hes above his level he can get away with it at smellville united but not at this level.

From what I have heard his real name is Walter Kotchin. He played in the USA and that is where Jason Batty saw him play, either in college or the MLS im not too sure. When Boomer told  Batty he was sick of the football there Batty put him in touch with a few clubs in NZ - one of them being melville.

When Roger saw the former US age group international play it was love at first sight - he saw how much talent Boomer had on offer and he signed him up immediatly. He has not been playing in the friendlies because he has been injured but when he does make his debut in the league it will be worth watching! He is either an attacking midfielder or a striker... the reports I have read on him say he is a very good passer of the ball and extreamly creative. So not only does he look like Paul Scholes but it sounds like he plays like him!

I wouldnt go to the extent of saying he is the best player in the world but he could be one of the better players in the league.

About this guy Luke Finlay - is this the guy who was on the Panna K.O tour? If it is I hope that he will be up for the physicality of this league, because most of them seem to just up for doing their little flicks and tricks and not up for the hustle and bustle of a tough league like the NZFC.

Thanks feedback for the 'Walter' Koochin info. I will look out for him when Wellington play Waikato. I have a friend who plays in the MLS and he's never heard of him so im guessin he's just a college player, but still it will interesting to see how he copes and whether this big reputation can be justified.
