So the Phoenix may be entering their reserve team into the NZ Football Championship. Don't they realise this would pit Herbert's dour grind-out-a-draw cloggers against mighty Auckland City FC, the conquerers of no less than the champions of Africa - TP Mazembe. Who the hell have the Phoenix ever beaten? Bring it on, I say, if you think you're hard enough? Tell Daniel to get in some extra practise falling over at the slightest touch. And Tim Brown better learn that the object of heading a ball is to put it over the line and into the net, not way over the crossbar.

The reserves beat Waitak and knocked in 7 at their place... when did Auckland ever do that ?

  Very pleasant afternoon, that was.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I'm sure it was a very pleasant afternoon but Hicksville United are not Auckland City FC. I'll say it again, CHAMPIONS OF AFRICA - when the Phoenix has won something significant you too can put it in caps. Tell Siggy he's welcome back to Kiwitea Street if he gets bored, and of course Ifill would be most welcome. Anyway chin up lads, you might not prop up the table again this season.

Too much time with Phil there Wayward.  Where was this cynicism in the stands at Mt. Smart or when you were writing about Kingz games for Metro ?

Again, it may be Hicksville but I don't remember seeing your reserves win 7-0 there, let alone your first team.

I don't remember seeing the Phoenix reserves beating TP Mazemebe either. Or Al Ahli.

Yeah, i bit. I bit hard.

Three for me, and two for them.

With Mully, Ferrante and Chen I don't think any of us doubt they would have though.

Aaaah...another Football fan living in the big smoke. Including me that makes 32 of us. We may not be many but boy could make some noise when the Kingz/Knights were in town.

Keep up the banter BM... and I look forward to giving you sh*t back once the mighty North Shore City finally gets their act together and grab an NZFC licence too.

Love to see North Shore City in the NZFC, that's another Auckland team to stuff Hicksville United (who incidently never won a game the two times they contested the Club World Cup). Tell Herbert to send down the reserve team to try their luck at Kiwitea Street. Mully and Chen must be desperate for any sort of kick around and I'll be the first to applaud them if they can do WHAT THE CHAMPIONS OF AFRICA couldn't. That's it, why don't we have an end of season (I fear yours will happen  much faster than ours) challenge between ACFC and the Phoenix - home and away? You could even play your end at Newton Park to save some dosh. I'll put up a cup. It might be the only piece of silverware you ever win.

Yes, I admit, City has never beaten Hicksville United 7-0  - just the CHAMPIONS OF AFRICA 3-2!

I'd swear it was Phil if you hadn't put your name in there Wayward.

Just as ridiculous.    How do you go from being Kingz through and through to as bitter as Phil these days ?

Gianluigi, I've searched my failing memory and can't remember ever knowing an Arsenal fan. Not one who could string a sentence together anyway. You sure you're not a secret Chelsea supporter? I merely though the Phoenix fans would appreciate someone taking an interest. I can see the quiet desperation in the thinning ranks in the caketin already. Not like the heyday of Bloc 5 and the Kingz when mad Ric led the massed singing. We were known to reduce Australian players to tears.

Bitter as Phil? Far from it, I'm full of the joys of life watching ACFC strut their stuff on the world stage. I think Riki made a mistake not signing Haynes, looks like poor old Ifill could do with someone to help out putting the ball in the net. Chad could even show you how to take accurate 30 yard screamers. Only trying to help old boy.

Now there's a name to conjure with. Anyway RicLaRoc put me up to this.

Folks on here have generally been pretty complimentary about the ACFC lads displays in the Middle East.

Everybody on here was lovin ACFC's efforts. there basically no animosity from Nix fans towards the club so the wind up is never really going to get much traction.

Its actually what we really miss though - a genuine rivalry.

Gee I bet that had Blatter leaning across and whispering to Platini "amazing huh, seven goals?". The FIFA chief honcho did of course say Auckland City's triumph over Mazembe was fantastic. Oh well, there's always another draw against Adelaide.

A rivarly with the Nix would be great, it's getting a bit boring in the NZFC when we're the only ones making any noise.

Oh well, it was worth a try. I thought you guys would bite back a bit more. A tired and emotional RicLaRoc, after a third shandy, goaded me on. Claims he started it all with Bloc 5. He's a worry, that lad. Anyway good luck with the A-League playoffs, hope you make it this time.

A North Shore side combining the best from the bridge to Northland.
Now that's something I could buy into.
I suspect it would add far more than it cannibalised.
And a vociferous fanbase too.

It would only really be made up from glenfield, east coast bays and north shore maby Albany, hibiscus coast and Takapuna.

I can think of a number from the first three that could easily make up a whole team, but you would need to pick from Hibiscus and elsewhere to have a full squad.
Dare I say it an invitation squad is great concept to take the best players to the next level.
