Can YF do anything about NZFC support

in response to a couple of lingering threads (http://www.yellowfever.co.nz/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=11776), I got wondering:

Is there anything YF can do to encouarge people to get along to NZFC games? An obvious promotion owuld be of TW, but there's YF people from all over NZ.

How's about some more front page news articles from the press on NZFC? Even if they have to be sourced from local media or the club sites themselves as opposed to national sources?

Must be plenty of idea floating about?

YF is the largest single hub of football supporters in NZ.....

News does a banner for each TW home game on the front page.
Most NZFC news gets put on the front page.

TW should be promoting their own product and not relying on others to do it for them.

Also makes the Pandemic and the forums.  We've put on buses and booze in the past to get people to games, plus talked up our sponsorship of Team Wellington.

I think we did put more general NZFC news up more often than we do now, but that has more to do with news stories only being posted by one person while the rest of us (read me) have been slack.

How's my driving? - Whine here

If we renamed Team Wellington to Team Cakes would it self-promote?

*warning - horrible fever in-joke alert.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

We also have a massive sold out stadium with 34,500 people coming along that are interested in football. Sorry HN I know its logistically hard as it has to have stadium support, but it has to be very tempting to do something. Go round with a pile of season passes selling them or just fliers, even do the rounds at the backbencher etc.

Allegedly

Best thing you could do to support Team Wellington is to take their gun off them. They may than stop shooting themselves in the foot.
They had a good fan base, crowds of 1,000 - 1,500 but managed to piss most of them off that they arent interested in going back unless they make big changes.

I recall the early days when about 1000-1500 showed up at Newtown park. Although I think they tried too hard with all the pre-and-post match entertainment stuff (kids dancing and that kind of thing???)

I also recall some folks in the crowd getting upset cos some guys in the crowd started a chant.  . . who'd have thought, given where fandom is in wellies now....

Next weeks game for Team Wellington just got a bit bigger with Canterbury losing. If TW can't get a crowd of 700 or so you should be kicked out of the NZFC and let Nelson put a team in.
