No Feni?!?!? Spose one of the big clubs have snapped him up.

He was trialling with Waitakere. No Welbourn or Nicol or Mauricio Oliviera? Who is Gordon McDoanld? Dagan Bland?
And Blair Duncan, how did he make the cut?

Gagame Feni has signed with Waitakere, made the decision at the end of the week.

I'm sure this will change as the season gets closer. Where's AC, has he got a move yet? Does anyone know when the season starts? fixtures? It looks like Waitak and Auckland have signed up practically every player in the country but I suppose they can only play 11 at once. You would think NZFC would have a fixture list sorted this close to the season.

Nelson Suburbs captain and defender Mark Johnston has been invited to train with the team, don't know what that means.

Gagame Feni will be a huge loss, how stacked are Waitakere though!?

Josh played for Burnside last season and Tech this season and MacDonald joined Halswell in the latter part of this season, via an International Tranfers.

Just a point to help you along Timmy. As you mentioned no2 at Tulett Park can be a bit cut up in the middle of the season.
Seeing as only let the lower grades play on the 1st team training pitch which is Tulett no2.

Pitch no2 is not the main pitch, only MPl and PDL teams plus Canterbury United use the Main League pitch. PDL team do have to use pitch no1 if it's a wet weekend and and 1st team are at home.
Last Saturday the League pitch was as good as it's been all season, Western had a training session there.
See what it ciomes up like for the Knockouts this Saturday.

Crusaders & Canterbury ITM team will be no doubt getting ASB Park to train on,
they have already requested it.

I know Mainland need the money but this might get interesting. We currently have a 13th grade rep team seeking a ground to train on (central location preferred - contact the writer if your club can help).Stretford End2011-09-12 20:56:18

It was just a squad game today not all players there.
Don't know about J. Wild playing as Keith has not made contact with him as of last Friday.

Expect at least one if not a couple of players in the squad with previous National League and NYL [captain] experience to pull the plug in the next week.

Any reason for this or a case a lack ot pride/commitment to the Red and Black.

Woulda thought that commitment to the campaign was a pre-requisite for selection; or is it select first and then see who wants to commit?

Maybe correct as I put this on here a few says ago. Rhys has been a NYL Captain.

Was their wednesday/thursday and didn't see Rhys their. Not sure if he's called it a day but that would be a shame if he has as he's a good player. Poolister not sure what you are inferring with the point about players pulling the plug. The season starts in 3 weeks and the squad is due to be announced next week so naturally a few players will be out and some might go before they are pushed. At the end of the day the management will pick the side on what they have seen during pre-season on top of what they know already about the player. Hell this probably applies to me but the past means feck all, its what you're capable of doing now.

Joe. Please read my previous post from last Monday, I did not mention players who are in the maybe list.
If Rhys was going to be pushed out by the coaching staff [your words] how many better CBs have you seen at Dragons trials this year.
The couple of pre season trial games i've seen Rhys has been one of if not the best performer.

Rhys nor Joe showed up to play at ASB Park today.

Judging by the awful defending by several players [in my opinion] on display at ASB Park today the Dragons need Rhys more than he needs them. Oh, and not to be a full time bench warmer.

Can't speak for rhys but shift work means I can't always make training/games. Plus I've just come back from a longterm hamstring injury so it was to soon for a game. Anyway excuses out of the way, what was the score? How did players play? What was the line ups for Canty & the mainland side? The new English import was due to arrive this afternoon, did he get a run out? First proper hit out for the lads so I would'nt get too excited. If whats said about Wild is true then he would be the big loss in defence for Canterbury. Him at LB, Terris and Schwartz in the middle and Blower on the right pretty much picks itself in my opinion. On a positive whats I've seen so far we've got alot of lads who are very comfortable on the ball and well able to keep it. The Aussie import looks a tidy player as well. Personally and I hav'nt seen Rhys play in a while but I've always seen him as a holding midfielder.

Joe the English lad only arrived in ChCh just after midday so did not have a run so we will have to rely on a report from you from training during the week.

Both teams a mix of ASB & NYL players the White team looked more the A team with Keith looking after them. Alan Walker & Pittman had the RED team. White won 4-0.
A run on the new surface and game fitness but need a bit more competition with only 2 weekends left till first game.

No real surprises on the signings, to be honest I could'nt remember everyone who signed was to busy listening out for me own name. Signings look to be Mcintyre, Matty Thomas, Highfield,Batty,Terris, Schwartz, Blower, Dirou, Murray, Kamo, Josh, Atwell, the  English lad and the Aussie. Of the academy lads the only two I recognise of Ken and Tane.  The ones who were at training who hav'nt been signed yet but are still gonna train with the lads are Ny, Dagan & Ando. Don't know what the story is with Parker and Duncan.  Not sure what the deal is with Claps, in fairness to him I would have expected him to move on to better things by now but I'm not sure where his options lie as European leagues have kicked on and the states / minor aussie leagues don't kick off untill next year. His only bet outside Canty is the big 3 in the NZFC or hope someone comes calling in the A league. Anyway good luck to him, he is certainly looking sharp in training and will be missed if he does'nt re-sign. So pretty much this was an update to tell you nothing you don't already know. Stay tuned for more insightful posts
