this is a snippet from canterbury's
'inside the box' weekly publication. i think that it's well
poor that a club should be publishing statements like this about a
referee.
for the record, i was at the game and
the ref was excellent. the tackle for which pitman was sent
off was an appaling tackle - he flew in from meters away with
two raised feet and hit chris bale in above the ankle.
pitman was lucky not to get a smack in the chops from the big lad
bale.
so, not only is this statement
completely out of order, it's completely incorrect. whoever
published this needs to take a good look at
themselves.

Inside the Box
Referees are a funny bunch arent they? Cast from the same mould as those that ride bicycles with upturned handlebars and wear walk socks with open toe sandals, they are in a position to affect the outcome of games with their interpretations.
Take last weeks Dragons fixture and the sending off of Andy Pitman.
Now, Im not saying that his sending off affected the outcome of the game%but it could have. To my mind it was not a red card offence, no way, and Im sure that that Pie shop of a referee didnt have a clear view but was still quick to the pocket.

Have you seen the NZFC website on the HB v YHM game? NZS are
allowing the writers to just give it to their own referees and then
published on their own site.

Yer I agree it's poor, however what do we really expect from
organisers at local or national level?
