Top stuff mate.  I had to miss the game due to a very large essay due soon so this is great.

Wouldn't it be great to see highlights every week?  Surely the comp could afford to do something like that and do a weekly wrap online.  Obviously TV would be the ideal avenue but hell hasn't quite frozen just yet...

They did have TV hilights in the first two seasons, but then the money dried up and it got canned.

Others have tried to resurrect it, but buying time and things was prohibitive.  Even we looked at doing some TW games online, but the logistics and cost meant we had to shelve it.

Feel free to dive in to the rest of the forum Tony...

Errr, cameras and cameramen aren't free mate.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Please don't treat me like a fool.  I would hardly consider what Canty have done being of high quality camera or commentating.  Plenty of staff that can do on a handycam.

Here is one idea on how to bring profile to a competition that has no publicity that would be next to nothing to produce, and it still gets put down!

No, I'm not putting it down at all, I'm challenging you to explain yourself a bit better though.

So your plan would be to buy/rent/borrow a couple of handycams per team and have volunteers film the game and send it to NZF and then have a volunteer edit it together and upload it?

I think it has merit but, as someone who has tried to do exactly that, I don't think you'll be able to find the skills and expertise and equipment you need for free.

Yes lets have volunteers record it, and I am sure clubs have, or have access to, handycams to do this.

They then upload or send it to the communications person at NZFC who then edits and gives to website people to put on a video highlights page.

Voila!

Hi Guys
FYI. It is being done at some of the MPL games including all of Burnsides games played in ChCh last season, Cliff has built himself a platform to stand on. The best club for filming is Nomads United from the clubroom balcony.
I don't think it would take much to sort out a keen fan of the game to give up their time if the equipment was made available.
As usual it needs a person to put their hand up and get it sorted.

And that my friend is where your whole argument breaks down.

No coverage is better than embarrasing amateur handycam footage in my opinion.

Allegedly

Exactly, there's no point putting in all that effort if the result is going to be a waste of time

Depends what the delivery is.  If it's low budget footage streamed online, not so bad.

You wouldn't want Sky screening it as the weekly highlights.

Maybe we should do mobile phone filming from our central commentary position News.

The commentary alone would be priceless.  And the tidbits people would pick up when Luc or Freddy are up there would make it a  cult favourite.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

People would probably be shocked that the majority of such commentary would centre on sausages, pies, and Maccas runs.

Then again, perhaps they wouldn't be shocked at all.

Anyone care to comment on a rumour doing the rounds that most of the City boys were at a stag do the night before the game against Canty?

Sorry to barge in, I'm a Falkirk fan (SPL) living in Wales. My nephew is playing for Canterbury United in the NZFC Grand Final on April 24th, and I've been scouring the internet for any tv coverage, satelite or online, without success. Surely someone must be covering the Final at least?!? Any info would be great.

As regards fans doing the job, Falkirk have a few volunteers with their own equipment who do live internet broadcasts of every game, home and away, in return for free tickets and transport to the games. We pay 5 a month to subscribe, and we get post match interviews, midweek shows and pre match buildups etc. The quality obviously isn't sky standard, what with one camera and a laptop, but it's well appreciated.
A smaller team in Scotland, Buckie Thistle, who play in the Highland league, have a schoolkid with who turns up to every game with a camcorder and bungs the highlights on youtube.
Anyway, just a thought....welshbairn2010-04-15 10:57:23

The game will be broadcast live on NZ Sky Sports. It's possible one of the football sites may stream it live on the Interwebs, although I wouldn't hold my breath.

The other option is that if you know anyone in NZ to get them to record the game for you, but obviously you wouldn't then get to see the game live.
