I was at the game, and to be honest Canterbury looked quite shocking. It was painful to watch.

Credit to Hawkes Bay, they did well. I think they are contenders this season if they keep it up.

Hey,

Anyone else at this game interested in hearing any more thoughts on the game. From what I have read and spoke to one person who went to the game Hawkes Bay should have won by alot more than 3-1 and played canterbury off the park for long periods of the match. I will be a very interested spectator this week in Auckland to watch the HB vs Auckland match think its shaping as a pretty decent game. Also heared through the grapevine that the TAB took an absolute hammering on this game as they opened HB at $9. Heard there was at least 1 collect of $100,000 and alot more big collects off it!

Yer I was there and it was pretty ruff.  Hawkes Bay could have (maybe should have) scored more however some poor finishing and good saves means they didn't.  Was pretty exciting match, lotsa action, however result went the wrong way.  Canty didn't do too much to impress, and it could be a little dicey against the big guns.  However there was a few players out so will have to wait and see.  Oh, and the goals were the result of some awful things going on at the back, so don't think too much into the result either.  Does that sound to biased?  Hope not...

Canterbury's team this season looks poor. Having said that, we did have two top players suspended, so we will have to see how we go next week.

crowd estimate??

Umm.... ruff guess.... 300?  Not very good with assessing.  Stand was full as was the two banks either side, and splattering of those around the edges.

Feel free to correct.

Why can't Canterbury draw a crowd at English Park. I lived there when we moved in the 70s and you used to get 3000 plus to national league games at English Park. It used to be packed. What's gone wrong.

I'd estimate 500.

Don't know whats gone wrong. To many fairweather fans I suspect + the age old problem of people who think it isn't football if it isn't the English Premier League.
