Hope the ground was better than it looked on TV. It looked very poor for this level of football.
Eastern Suburbs AFC
Thought Suburbs played well but all too often McCowatt, De Jong, and Elijah Just found themselves within 10 metres of each other. It played into Tasman's considering how deep they were. Every attacking moving just became too congested.
And if I'm being nit picky I thought De Jong was way too static. Given the circumstances acted as a road block.
From Twitter yesterday - I wonder if this works like the British \ Scottish thing ie when they are winning they are Western Suburbs, but when they lose they'll become Eastern Suburbs?
Tim Payne is absolute class
Haven't followed the Handa premiership as much as I have in previous seasons, but have taken an interest in Eastern Suburbs when I can (Afterall Riverhills used to be my old stomping ground).
Just seen after their 3-0 win against Southern United yesterday, Callum McCowatt has scored in 10 consecutive matches! For a 19 year old that is brilliant at any level and surely a record (if not, close to) in the NZ domestic game. Surely he's heading on to bigger and better things in his footballing career. Good to see De Jong has bagged a few this season as well.
Callum is a great player. His technique is fantastic but what I think is rare for players coming out of New Zealand that his vision is also very good. The kid has moments of genius despite getting a bit lost during certain patches of games.
He's already had a spell overseas which didn't work out too well. But hopefully those doors haven't closed.
He doesn't have an EU passport, which complicates things for him.

Even more of a reason why a Nix stint would be a perfect step for him at this stage of his career. Does it make a difference if Rudan is coach next year? I think it may.

10 goals in consecutive games is truly remarkable. Have looked back for the deadliest striker in NZ and even the great John Wrathall did not achieve that, although he scored 360 goals in 392 games for Suburbs.

Should have added that he's scored 17 in those 10 games as well. Incredible numbers. Someone should definitely be watching over those sort of performances. Perhaps someone from the Nix I'd suggest?

Think he's off back to Europe for another go at making it there. Scotland?
Swedish pub football.
Congratulations to Eastern Suburbs. Fantastic season, and a well deserved Premiership and qualification for the OCL.
Teedubs with an off day, but that's football sometimes.
Just a question though, how many of these Eastern Suburbs boys are trying their luck for a contract/future overseas after this season? McCowatt sounds like he's off to Europe for a crack, are there any others confirmed to be heading offshore?

You’d think they need the Ole relationship and production line to continue, to stay strong.

Being Champions of the Premiership, it would surely be an attractive proposition for anyone coming through. Would love to see McCowatt in Phoenix colours come next season though, feel as though he'd make the step up, considering the season he's just had. Only time will tell.
Hoping someone might be able to help me out here...as a hobby over the last few years I've been keeping some team line-up information for Premiership games.
The only information I'm missing for this season is for the Tasman United v Eastern Suburbs game on March 10, as neither of my main sources have any details of Eastern Suburbs substitutions.
Soccerway doesn't have anything...
nor does Transfermarkt...

Does anyone have these details? Can point me at another source from this type of information?
They didn't make any subs in that game.

Here you go
Awesome - thanks folks...wonder when the last time a team didn't make any subs was? Don't think it happens too often these days.
Yakcall - where are those details from? Don't recall anything looking like that from my web searching.
It's from Comet. Yakcall is a ref, so he gets access to such things.

Yeah what he said, I'm lucky enough to get to look at this kind of stuff for games after they have been played (can't see team list etc before kick off)
Any indication that Parker-Price and Edge have signed for Torslanda for the long-term with an aim of staying in Europe, or will they be back in NZ next season? Awaiting an exodus this off season, so many players had fantastic campaigns for Suburbs

Could depend on FIFA’s plans for CWC. Moves to a 4 year cycle and not so attractive to go back to ES.
Stay as an annual event and they could be lured back for another Handy campaign plus OFC Champions League, with the potential CWC jackpot.
Swedish Div 4 probably don’t pay that well
Looks like Hay will well & truly get a test of his coaching credentials this Handy Prem season.
If Payne & Awad sign for Nix, he would have lost well over half his GF winning team from last season.

Might avoid that one by getting the All White role.....
God please no.
There's a bunch of coaches I rate quite highly in New Zealand. Declan Edge is one of them.
I have never rated Hay but I can't really explain why. His teams often seem so... nothing.

but they'll just be replaced by the next batch from Ole, who having seen them in the Central League are also pretty good
Has Edge been announced as Eastern Suburbs coach?
Has Edge been announced as Eastern Suburbs coach?
Rumour that it's Emblen. Back in town to rejoin wife and kids.
wow, that'd be big
Martin Bueno signing for Suburbs too. Another great pickup

Could Hay look to get him involved with AWs?
Gribbers or Edge?

The former, I doubt NZF is ready yet for the latter.
