Capital Football made a submission to Hutt City Council last year about converting Petone Memorial to articficials which resulted in the council moving $500k forward to 2012 in their long term plan. Hutt City also have a discussion document currently out for consultation (for one more week) about sportsgrounds: http://www.huttcity.govt.nz/Council-Projects/Sportsgrounds-Review/

In Wellington Island Bay United are also leading an initiative to get Wakefield Park converted to artificials: http://www.wakefieldpark.org.nz/

That's just two initiatives that I know of and that everybody should be getting informed about and trying to support.

I would strenously object to Wakefield Park being converted.  I love the bumps and ridges just the way they are.

In another thread there is a list of the parks that WCC have in the LCCP scheduled for conversion to artificial.

Wakefield is up there, so is Alex Moore Park in Johnsonville.

Basically the schedule is one a year for the next five years I think.  This year's is the new park in Newtown for the RWC.  Next year's I think might be Wakefield.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

The new one at Newtown being used as a pilot in the same way Nairnville has is my understanding, just a full size. Also a difference between this one and Nairnville in that it is not having a shock pad (I think)

After the 2-year pilot it is 1 every year for the next 5. Interestingly after the initial publicity about it being an RWC ground it hasn't been included in the list of training venues.

On the list for the future is Wakefield, Alex Moore, I think Grenada is there aswell.

Porirua are also looking closely at one is my understanding but is largely being driven by the League club out there who would own it and run it as opossed to a council driven facility. This all up for discussion though.

the WCC park are possible options. No decisions have been made as far as I know. I think the roll out timing has been sped up recently though.
