Waitakere vs Auckland City for what could be the league decider. Auckland City need to win this game as if they draw or lose then Waitakere just need to win their remain 3 games to win the League.

Auckland City also have to play Wellington on the last round. That game could be for who will end up 2nd if they lose to Waitakere. Lets see how much fight Auckland City have in them.

I am picking a really tight game but 2-1 to Waitakere. They will have all their players back and tactically they have had it over Auckland City all year. Should be a cracking battle but the football will most probably be poor.

My preference really depends on what is best for TW - if Waitak win i think it will make a top 2 finish for TW bloody difficult (although my maths could be wrong)

Go City!

Plus, I felt somewhat sympathetic for Marama with nobody yet responding to his post! Where is HappyTed when you need him?

Ted's too busy calling the Nix and their fans names on another thread to get involved in this one.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Actually if Waitakere win then TW have more chance of a top 2 finish. Both WU and TW have a game in hand on AC.

If WU win then they are equal points, better goal difference and a game in hand and with 3 to go would be in the box seat to win. If they lose then their goal difference is too vast (9 more) for TW to catch up. TW will need WU to lose twice to get second in that scenario.

TW best opportunity to be in the top 2 is for WU to beat AC and then it will come down to the last game of the season between TW and AC. If TW were to win their last 4 games they would end up 2nd. TW goal difference is only slightly worse than AC so they will have the opportunity to beat AC on the last day of the season to clinch 2nd.

If TW were to beat AC and AC had beaten WU then WU would end up top if TW beat AC.

Don't you love the end of season mathematics. At least we have a top 3 fighting to be top. Much better and all those that say the league is no good - I say watch the next 4 matches to see who is champion.

P.S. I dont believe in this playoff rubbish

Good article about this game and this rivalry between the clubs in the Herald on Sunday. Good piece in there about the 248, had to laugh when i say Rich's quote 'I'm a lover, not a fighter', thought that was gold, and am sure it will be brought up today by fellow City fans who read it.

Sh*te game,  (except for last 20)
very sh*te ref, (what's with his enormous ego trip?)
Unbelievable bullsh*te City 3 5 2 starting line up. (what a surprise that was)

Good goal. Scored by the poof-ta in his brand new tangerine boots.

Fair result, though City nearly stole a draw in the last minute.

Where was Adam McGeorge? On the f**king bench all game that's where!! Should of been out there in the middle he would of given it his all.

sh*t gameplan too, just hoofing it up for their backline of grandads to mop it up every time. How could we not of figured out that our best chances came when we played it along the ground and by doing so ran rings around the slow old pricks.

I won't even start on Chad's shot.

What do you mean Great result? Dont tell me you are a Waitak fan! How come we never saw you today then? How can they exist with no fans? amazing!
As for the game, they def have it over us at the moment and it is hard to see how we can sort this, at least in the short term.
Thought Pearce was the best player on the field and cant believe we did not grab him in the window as it was well known he was pretty pissed off after Japan.

Good question, he is one of the most average players I have ever seen.
Our squad selection has been poor from day one to be fair.

Hilarious.

I watched the game and a few things were evident.

1: Waitakere controlled this game from start to finish. Granted they defended more in the last 25, they were still in control. I can't see ACFC beating Waitakere again this year unless Waitakere choke (which has happened before)
2: Ben Sigmund is class at this level but he would struggle a HAL level. He was out on his feet for the last 15-20 with just not being fit enough. His is very good in the air but slow on foot. Archie Thompson would be around him in two steps. Sorry Ben, I'm a fan and all, but I doubt you'll be getting a Phoenix contract.
3: Jordan could probably be thankful he was wasn't sent off for that terrible tackle on Danny Hay. Waitakere were denied a legit goal by an incorrect offside call by the lino in the 2nd half so I fail to see how ACFC supporters can abuse the officials when they kept one of their players on the park and denied a goal making them 2-0 down. Granted they can complain about 1 of the yellows at the referee but in all they should have been down by 5 at the half anyway cause ACFC was rubbish in the first half.
4: The morons behind the Auckland bench (Happy ted and his mates I believe) that abused everything that was inside the white lines. Your language in front of the kids was terrible and saying Commins was a disgrace to NZ Football???? What example are you guys setting then? My mate had to move his kids away from you lot because of this. Danny Hay called it quite right in the after match that the English coaching and supporters are now a scourge on our game. You are not supporters because you turn up to every part of the country every week. You are hooligans because you are abusive to everyone. I can handle it, but kids shouldn't have to..
5: The trusts venue was very nice looking with the revamp and all.
6: Allan Pierce is class and took RVS to school until he got subbed off at the half.
7: I agree that Adam McGeorge would have probably done a better job than say Chad Coombes? All Chad did was mark thin air and kick Seaman when he was down and Hay when he was down he was lucky too.

Can't blame anyone for this loss. ACFC just were not good enough.

Hang on a sec. I stood next to Happyted the whole game and not once did he or anyone else say Commins was a disgrace to NZ football. Not once. The only things said about Commins were throwaway comments such as 'break a leg Commins' and so on, very much tounge-in-cheek.

Also i don't think the language was terrible, and calling us hooligans is a bit rich don't ya think? I mean, Did we damage any of their ground? No. Did we search the ground for a fight? No. I don't know what you expect us to say when we are subject to such a pitiful display of refereeing? Exactly.

1: Subjective memory loss? I recall hearing a reference that he was a disgrace to football and shouldn't be allowed near kids. What kind of comment is that???? (although I did hear the break a leg comment)

2: I refered to hooligans as in being abusive. Didn't mention anything about damage. You chose to take that out of context.

3: If I think your missus is ugly, can I come around and stand on the footpath outside your place and abuse her tongue in cheek?? I'll even pay you $10 for the privilege to. Regardless of who it is and what its about, there is not much of a need to make sure the whole bloody stadium hears you.

4: Why didn't you abuse your team for being rubbish? Surely if you thought the officials were bad, then you must have viewed your team as being definitely worse... That wasn't football. It was cruel and unusual punishment.

5: You're right. Its a wind up. I never saw Alan Pierce move towards you guys (in front of his bench granted) after he scored and mocking you with the motion of 'can't hear ya now' cause I wasn't at the game.

We did abuse our team, didn't you hear us having a go at Sinkora throughout the match, or at Chad for missing that golden opportunity? Or do you just hear what you want to hear?

Oh, and how could the whole bloody stadium hear us when the grandstand is in a different time zone to the pitch?

I was wondering, after that performance, why the "Tua'a out" chants haven't started yet. After all, he's picking Sinkora, and he didn't pick up Allan Pearce when he could have.
And yet again, I see people associated with a club blaming the match officials for their own teams shortcomings. Waitakere won because Sykes and Pearce stepped up their game right at the required time, whereas Young etc didn't. And guess what - the referee had no control over Chad Coombes finishing.

siggy didnt play at all well for his standard, first time ive seen him have a shocker which is unlike him, i spose a bad game in 18 aint so bad tho, just a shame it came in such an important match, aucklands midfield was dreadful, they missed any sort of player to link with lee like nearer the start of the season. disapointing.

I was at the game and it was men against boys for most of it. Waitakere's tactics and players were superior for most of the game. If they had scored a second goal then the floodgates could have opened. Tamati and Siggy were the only players standing in the way of that happening.

I don't understand Colin's tactics. He is playing against the biggest defenders in the league and his defenders whacked everything down their throats. The front players for Waitakere just pressured (Thanks Hard News) everything and made the defenders job so easy. How many times did siggy and Uhlmann have no choice but to whack it long and Hay and Emblen either headed it down or pulled it down and played. Everytime City tried to play into the midfield Seaman, Bale or Sykes muscled them off the ball and counter-attacked.

the first half Waitakere missed 4 chances to increase their lead. Bale in the 4th min should have scored, Pearce 1 on 1 - goal, Totori missing over the bar from just inside the box when anything on target was a goal, Emblens header that was hacked off the line, Seamen going through onto sykes cross and great save but he had that much time he could have pulled it down and placed it.

The second half more even but Waitakere looked by far the side to score again. Hitting posts, offside (didnt look offside to me but the officials are the ones who make those calls). City only looked dangerous when they played every man forward and Waitakere basically soaked it up.

If Waitakere had dropped a point in that game they would have felt cheated as it was a one-sided game.

Its a funny comment about Allan Pearce nearly leaving to go to Auckland City as i would be very surprised if that happened as he must be on a water-tight contract being one of their top players. I wonder how many City boys would want to go the other way. Not a happy camp under Tuaa is what I am hearing.

On the referee I thought more yellow cards than necessary but the referees seem to think the derby games need to be firmly controlled. Some of the fouls by City, Jordan in particular on Hay, were absolute hacks and they were lucky to not see more cards. Sykes should have been sent for the elbow as it should have been his second booking but the referee didn't affect the game and he probably had a good game.

It was a good game to watch and I think the new stand at the field is far superior a platform to watch the game from. It is now a very good stadium to watch football at.

i dnt mind seeing so many cards, keeps the game in good order and under control, allows teams to then just play, which waitakere took charge of deserved to win, if not by more!!

i dont understand colins tactics in playing 3 5 2 either, havent seemed to have played it at all this season, and he decides on it in the biggest match of the year thus far! ridiculous! from the sounds of it, not a happy camp at all...we will sit and wait anxiously to see what happens there!
