Hawkes Bay Utd-a joke or what?

I've been having abit of a troll around the eight NZFC club websites and found 7 to be fairly well up to date, tidy and informative( particularly liked Waikato,Manawatu, Auckland and Welly)...then I get to my teams site -HAWKES BAY UTD. What a joke. Very badly 'texted'(words overlay each other in places),dull in visual appearence and lacking in any current info.Have they not heard of  giving the players a 'pen portrait' for example?? Couple that with the distinct impression that management are somewhat inept in promoting the team,( no supporters bus for Manawatu game despite then subject being raised by management some two months ago and prompts by myself and others more recently).
I just find it amazing that a club with so much depth and resources can be so poor when it comes to the 'pointy end' in the administration side
Wake up HBU, you are well off the pace off the field and I know a couple of us are questioning our choice in sinking 100s of our own dollars into supporting you ( not talking about season tickets, gate fees  or raffles either).
  Rant over.

At leat you won't have to fork out any dollars to get into this weekends game against Manawatu. All our home games are free this year.

Hey Accy, the best bit is that if you've bought a Retro Ricki you've also (indirectly) sunk money into running TeeDubs.

You should ask for naming rights!

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I've been waiting for someone to bring up the subject of club websites.

Now that I'm living back in England, the websites are the only way for me to keep up-to-date with the going's on in the NZFC. During the off-season, there's almost no activity on any of these sites (save for the NZFC website). Club's are slow to post news of new signings, coaching changes etc. I found very little information on any websites until about a week before the season started. Indeed, Wellington's website still doesn't have this year's squad on it!

In this day and age, where the web rules and the NZFC is starting to see crowds and finances fall away, it's imperative for all club's to keep their websites up-to-date and as informative as possible. The returns, over time, will speak for themselves. There is a world of difference between thinking you're a professional outfit, and being a professional outfit.PSG552008-11-27 22:59:51

They've been up for a short while - at least a few days.

Point still stands though

accy stan, i think ull find that in terms of 'off field' administration Hawkes Bay is well ahead of most franchises.

1. Hawkes Bay playing in this years NZFC was never in doubt
2.Clearlly Hawkes Bay have some of the best facilities in this country, having played at most grounds in the NZFC, Hawkes Bay United have the best changing rooms, club rooms have a pitch 2nd to none give YOU probably the best seating facilities this league has to offer.
3. Your may put your money into supporting this team but who doesn't??
4.The sponsership you see around the ground doesnt just happen-it happens because of quality off field administration.
5.Hawkes Bay are commiting to a nat youth league trying to develop there youth players, othe franchies are NOT, because they don't have enough money BECAUSE of POOR off field administration.
6. Promotion of team. iIve seen several posters at pubs and shops in Hawkes Bay.What more do you want tv commercials? Billboards? its a semi pro enviorment wouldnt you rather the money we do have go on recruiting players or put into the academy. There are also radio adspromoting the team during the week of a home a game

its a website get over it, the nzfc websites actually dont offer a hell of alot either.

but before accusing Hawkes Bay of being a joke behind the scenes you should think how lucky you are with our set up. Is it not you who sings "shall we give some cash to you"  and whats the point of a supporters bus for your 'army' of 5?

3. Your may put your money into supporting this team but who doesn't?? READ MY POST PROPERLY.If still unsure PM me and I'll try and clarify (or see me at next game).
4.The sponsership you see around the ground doesnt just happen-it happens because of quality off field administration. Didn't suggest they got it all wrong.
5.Hawkes Bay are commiting to a nat youth league trying to develop there youth players, othe franchies are NOT, because they don't have enough money BECAUSE of POOR off field administration. If the others aren't,then HBU is truely in a league of its own.
6. Promotion of team. iIve seen several posters at pubs and shops in Hawkes Bay.What more do you want tv commercials? Billboards? its a semi pro enviorment wouldnt you rather the money we do have go on recruiting players or put into the academy. its a website get over it, the nzfc websites actually dont offer a hell of alot either. What planet are you on?? The other   7 (maybe 6 as I am a  little unsure about Otagos) are a dam sight better(not perfect) than HBUs..and people do go to websites or are you suggesting you know more about it than Man Utd or Chelsea's admininistrors?

but before accusing Hawkes Bay of being a joke behind the scenes you should think how lucky you are with our set up. Is it not you who sings "shall we give some cash to you"  and whats the point of a supporters bus for your 'army' of 5?
HBUs manager told me he was thinking of hiring a bus to go to Palmy.I told him that our group would be able to fill 6-10 seats if that would help his planning. As the weekend got closer both myself and Tom made approaches(seperatly) asking if a bus was going.NO CONFIRMATION one way or another. We made our own arrangements-no big deal and a great day was had by all.Poor show on HBUs admin staff though. If they weren't prepaired to 'follow through', then they shouldn't have piped up.

didnt mean to mock the bay army i for one think its great to see at the island just wanted to make the point that we are in actual fact far better off than alot of the franchises and that we should all count our selfs lucky for what we have.

Personally I think HBU has a fantastic backroom, although I get the feeling that last weekends game to wellington and the recent away game at Manawatu were put on the backburner a little by the oncoming phoenix game. I think he Phoenix's cancellation had a bigger affect that what we could see and i certainly know many of the staff had worked tirelessly to promote it. That was one of the reasons for the lack of a bus given, and I myself had no problem with that.

agree for sure. and although the Phoenix cancellation overshadowed the match think about the long run. united get to play a pro outfit at home in front of a huge crowd promoting there football and talents. football is promoted in hawkes bay as there here for a few days and you lads also have a great oppourtunity to promote yourself to the region and sacrificing a bus to palmy nrth is will feel well worth it come january 15th. and again accy thats all down to our brilliant board and adminstrators

Haven't looked at their website so I'm not having a go at HBU, or anybody else, but clubs have to realise that their website is the first point of contact for a lot of people. That first impression counts and if your website looks like a piece of sh*t it doesn't give a very good impression of the club.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

From where I was I  could hear you chanting and that bl**dy drum but couldn't always hear what you were chanting (probably just as well as there was bound to be some dodgy stuff - Accy Stan said you guys got told off again). It was bouncing back off the changing rooms on the other side to good effect. It's surprising how effective 7-8 guys can be if you are a bit organised.

Yeah all it took was one of us to utter the word b*****d and the P.C brigade were all over. God help them if they actually went to a game in the u.k

I did find that funny in NZ - that you can't swear at footy. I remember being at an Auckland City game and a group of their supporters asked me to start a song up. However, having grown up at Stamford Bridge, I couldn't think of many without swear words in so had to decline. :)

As for the earlier point about the Waikato FC website, that is quality. Always up to date and a lot of pictures too. A lot of clubs could learn a lot from them.

Ohhhh growing up at the bridge, poor you, well I guess someone has to do it huh. I can relate, as I have the same problem, I grew up at Edgeley Park and Old Trafford and its hard for me not to start songs that dont have any swearing in them, I really have to bite my tounge! I think the unfortunate thing is that people go looking for things to complain about these days....Seriously, I'm not sure who it was but was of us shouted b*****d, and that was it, we were swooped upon by angry people...

Jeepers - it's not that difficult to come up with something that doesn't have swearing in it. Just takes a bit of initiative is all.

Why??? It's a football match, passions run riot, people have got to expect a little bit of swearing at a football match ... its really no different to yelling something like 'what the f**k was that' when a striker misses an easy chance or a defender screws up.  It happens and a lot of people do it, its all in the heat of the moment ... and we chant and sing in the heat of the moment, its just that the moment is 90 minutes long and swear words are a small part of that moment

So far this season the Bay have shown only glimpses of there form of last year.  From a source close to the camp there will be wholesale changes over the summer with a couple of big name players coming in and out - with the most likely change beging Parkin for Holloway in a straight swap.

Well if thats true, as far as I'm concearned ,he can F***  off. Who the hell does he think he is-runs back to Waitakari to try and get in the squad for the World Club Champs (did he make it?) then  decides he'll get more action back here at the Island...If I was Johnathon I'll tell him where to shove it. If he plays for the Bay, I'll turn my back everytime he gets the ball.

Hey Stan, slightly off topic. What did you think of ex-Partick Thistle player Ricky Gillies when he played for the Bay?

He was a huge underachiever in Scotland. I saw him play for you guys against ACFC and thought he looked good.

To be fair, i wasn't following the Bay closely for the first couple of seasons..I went to a couple of games and found the atmosphere BORING...then along came TOM and Scotty who organized the Bay Army at the start of last season.and I was 'in'. ...
Did you know KENNY ARTHUR was hospitalized straight after the game at Lincoln last Saturday morning (NZ time).  Bleeding liver.Poor bastard.
