Poor lad. Regular first teamer at an already struggling/rebuilding club, Blackpool management staff must be seething.

Maybe they'll think twice before letting young Henry out in future on some far flung excursion...

It's awful luck for him and his club but I really don't think that response is reasonable - I mean, it wasn't like he was carrying an injury he aggravated, or got injured because the pitch the AWs were on was garbage or anything. It's not fair to blame the injury on playing for the AWs - sure it happened while he was playing for us but there was nothing specific about that game which caused it. ACL ruptures are just kind of one of those things that happen to some footballers - it's the result of playing football itself rather than anything else. He could have done it on a training pitch in Blackpool, or at the next game or whenever.

The good news for him is that he's still young and should heal relatively quickly. do that injury in your 30s and it's probably career over  - like Joel Griffiths :(

Unfortunately for Henry, the injury picked up in the Oman game is a rupture of his anterior cruciate ligament and he's ruled out for the rest of the season.

That's a nasty injury - hope he recovers well and represents NZ for years to come.

I hope that it doesn't hit him too hard psychologically because it seems he was considering giving up football all together last year after things weren't going well for him and he was questioning it as a career. It's only over the last year that things had turned around for him and he'd found some success:

Jeezus I'm glad Nix supporters don't talk about our own players like that. Disgusting IMO.

You have not seen much of the talk about Vinnie in Seasons past have you?

I doubt people ever expressed joy at Vinnie being injured.

For all the dislike vinnie got on here I don't remember anyone ever expressing happiness at him getting injured.

Seems like he's keen to get back to the AW's as well, talking it up in the team newsletter. Some more established and senior all whites can learn a thing or two.

Midweek he game off the bench as Blackpool beat Bolton 4-2 (extra time) in League Cup.

From what I can see he hasn't played in any of Blackpool League Two games to date. Be interesting to see if Hudson wants another look at him for the Mexico match.

I would say so. He was mentioned, along with others, as being key players to return,

Still getting over his leg injury perhaps why he's on the bench?

Cameron wasn't in the squad in the weekend. Is he injured or just playing reserves?

Not in squad vs Crawley in 1-0 loss away.

Yip Cactus. Be hard to imagine he is in any sort of shape given his glass knee and being used as a bit player since his return. Love to be proved wrong. I still remember him setting Wood up with a thru ball in the only goal of the game vs Oman. Some vision for a youngster. Does he share the same position as DQ - sorry meant Wynne.

Deklan Wynne plays left back and Henry Cameron is an attacking wide midfielder.

what's with Hudson picking so many guys that aren't fit or back to full fitness. Guys who are playing week in week out have to be preferred to guys coming back from injury and doing little more than pre season or inter squad training and the odd reserves game. Nothing against Cameron but it's a bit ask for a guy to play 90 mins of an international when he hasn't played 90 mins all season

Someone needs to ask the Boyd question - 2nd div in Portugal v on the outer and injured in the English 4th tier

Maybe Boyd isn't available, seems like the type of player Hudson likes. Has Boyd played an a international? He did talk about playing for the US at one stage.

Boyd played official competitions for NZ (u20 WC/ u20 OFC) so he can't switch nations

Permalink Permalink

those are age group comps though, he can switch at senior level as he was born a us citizen.

are you sure he was born in the US? i thought he was from Tauranga

You don't have to be born in a country to be a citizen, I thought one of his parents was a yank. Regardless he had a us passport before representing nz.

He's played about 6 times for the All Whites, but only ever in Friendlies, so can still switch.

Don't think he will play for the USA ever, unless he starts getting minutes with the first team. Also let's stick to Henry Cameron on this thread :P

Has been loaned out by Blackpool to Telford United, who play in the English 6th Tier - National League North.

Had his first minutes for Telford on the weekend, subbing on at 66 minutes.

He's still only a 19 yr kid, so I guess the most important thing for him is to be playing, and he'd barely featured for Blackpool at all this season. Still sad that since that AWs debut verus Oman, and his terrible knee injury in that game (up to then he had almost been a Blackpool first team regular) - he's career gone somewhat backwards.

Hopefully he can turn it around.

That injury whilst playing for the AWs really has stuffed up his development. Hopefully he can bounce back from this.
