The New Caledonia consortium Oceania 11's side should be ready buy 2011/12, And have been guaranty entry to the O-League already, Also going buy what the OFC have reported on Pacific Radio there will be a 4 team playoff between Tonga+Cook Island+American Samoa and Samoa champions to determine a spot in the O-League for the winner.
I expect NZFC to lose a spot to the Nixs.

Roz, I'm a bit out of the loop here.  COuld you expand a bit on the "Oceania 11s" and why they get a guaranteed slot?

Hopefully not.

Three for me, and two for them.

Basicly Reynald Temarii gave the all clear to Christian Karembeu and his Oceania 11s A-League bid that would allow them to play in the O-League. All island nations gave there vote for it - Not against it.

Another thing was Wellington Nixs improves NZ football standeds (NZ players) but it does not in anyway improve the Island nations in football standed.
The Oceania A-League team will be a OFC side made up of OFC players, unlike the Nix's that is a FFA/AFC team based in OFC. They will not complain and cry and try to ass there way into the ACL. They have O-League and the OFC along with FIFA warning that the standes must improve or lose there CWC spot, Want the standeds improved with professional teams playing in it.

Last thing was the "Other" NZFC O-League place does not belong to NZFC, It is there for an Island team that currenty does not use it. NZFC know that and NZF know that.

Ok, what league will this Oceania 11s team play in apart from the O-League?

It was an A-League proposal that has never really been given any credibility beyond a couple of newspaper articles.

How's my driving? - Whine here

This is where I am confused, he says that this Oceania 11s team will be ready for the O-League in 2011/2012.  First of all why they get guaranteed entry I don't understand bu also how can you have a team that only plays in the O-League?

I never said they only play in the O-League?. D&G hello? where did i say that? I said it will be an A-League team (From OFC) that will play O-League. If you want/need anymore info why dont you email the OFC or some thing. Royz2010-05-05 23:34:21

Ok right - I was confused but this is clear now (I don't think your post was clear at all but that's fine).   I don't think there is any chance of an Oceania team playing in the A-League, that's completely pie in the sky,  so I don't see this as an issue

So this Oceania 11 that plays in A-League is allowed to play in O-league and FIFA is OK with that but not OK with the Wellington Phoenix playing in the O-League?? Sounds a bit double standard somewhere.

That was for the PNG team at the time but now they have a team there in O-League (and won to go to the CWC) yet we still have two NZFC teams in the O-League.

I think that OFC realise that the two NZFC teams are strong clubs and might be looking to mantain a highly competitive O-League. It won't be too far away from ranking the national leagues around OFC and awarding extra spots to clubs in stronger leagues like it is in other champion leagues around the world. It would be nice to have a second tier O-League sometime down the track as O-League would get very elite with the same clubs completing every year after a while. this way more games in different conditions will increase the football standard.
