So a signed contract with TW means nothing?

Oh yeah, we were still debating how many had actually signed.

Hadn't retired on Saturday night when I beat him 25-23 at indoor mwahahaha (granted he was playing outfield and not in goal...)

Didn't the same thing happen a couple of years ago when he trialled for Wests? Imray was too good in training and Jim jumped ship rather than spend a season in the ressies / on the bench.

Surely he will play again though, otherwise what else would he talk about when you bump into him on the street??

About how blind you are to have missed seeing him and ended up bumping into someone so tall haha.

Na hopefully not gone from too much football, I think he is pretty bloody decent.

Pulled out due to work commitments as far as I know. Interesting that he did it after the squads were announcend as TW can't get another keeper in until the transfer window.

Its no longer a problem.

he was also on the bench for the All Whites in Fiji...who'll be next in line for that role since it can't be Moss or Spoonley?  Time to recall Utting??

Is Imray eligible yet? I recon he would've been No1 at TW anyway. I'm guessing it would be Nicholson though. Utting wouldn't be allowed on the plane drunk.

Also, there was that guy from Warfies who was in the paper as few years back showing some "flesh" but making a superb save

What about, as Hard News has previously called him (much to my amusement), calamity Ross?

Rumour through the grapevine is that Ross wont be starting until he hits a certain weight related target, hence why Tamati Wililiams started last Saturday. As I said, rumour....

Simon is involved with most of the NZ sides and I another fine gentleman to deal with.

Why is it always the GKs that are the nice guys?

ahaha...rumours are so last year.
The goss is...Colin said he was "not ready"..... for what, he does not know.
I think its a load of fu*king boll**ks really.

Never fear, the fella will be a major part of the ACFC team that retains the NZFC....then he plans to walk away from football.....and that my friends, is a fact!

Sorry, guys, been away and been very busy to log on and have my say.

"Not ready" is the same quote I heard.

I translate that to being over weight....

I don't think being over weight is a problem for keepers. Our aim is to stop the ball going in the net. Physics states that it is easier to hit/block an object with another object that is bigger. Hence, the bigger the keeper, the better we are. I just need to convince my coach of that fact

Its no longer a problem.

i reckon we should form a trade union for large keepers to stop the discrimination.  when will coaches learn that the larger we are the less room for the ball?

big dunc, you won't be eligable if you dip under 100kgs.

wodger, want to ask you friend ross if he's keen to sign up?  we should be able to get jason batty, neville southall and tommi tomich on board too.

I don't think his weight is the issue....as he has lost quite a bit from the looks of things.
He has a busy business on the North Shore and has been putting a lot of effort into that so that may be the reason.
Apparanty he doesn't get on with the GK coach.....which may be another reason.

As i said, they are just rumours.

I have heard that same rumour...

Incidentally we were wondering where the GK coach came from. He's not on any radars in Auckland. Any idea?

The comments on James Bannatyne's retirement are inaccurate.  It was purely due to work commitments and was an extremely hard call to make. So instead of putting aside his years of achievement and trying to make it into something it is not......why not let him move on with a bit of respect.

Interesting call on the work front. He was at ACFC in the 1st year but was never around much, someone said work then as well, a sports related company I think. Can't quite remember the name of the company he worked for, but it must take him around a bit as he has gone to CHCH and Welly.

Yeah, i think it was Sports Resouces....(think Adidas clothing made in Asia Saga).
I now beleave he is at Puma, lokking after the lower North Island.

Cookovich from the club said the GK coach is from Serbia....which is odd, as the Croatians where at war with them only a few years back weren't they?

Here Here Jimbo, well said.

On the other hand.................... lets not.

He's shiite and was on the way down the slippery slope to goalkeeping obscurity. F****g hopeless, couldnt catch a cold and a f****g liability on a good day

Jacobs has offered a 'finger injury/something else' type of reason in this morning's dom which doesn't really help clarify the situation.

Haven't you retired before Jim?  Don't do it bro - remember that despite being the wrong side of 30, you're still bringing the average NZFC goalkeeper age down thanks for the likes of Utting (Mr retirement), Pamment and Eaddy.  Oh, and did I hear that Clint Gosling has just signed for Otago?

A tad ironic that James Bannatyne plays such a major role in the promo video on the nzfc website.

Its no longer a problem.
