GEEZ, we all get shirty over players so young. Having played along side Eager, Marco, a 14 yo Chris Killen and a young Leo Bertos I would say Marco is as good at the same age if not slightly better. Unfortunately with the shortened NZFC we don't get to see the emerging talent from out of town as frequently so can't really comment on players such as Myers. I hope Marco does get into the NZ system because I truelly believe he will be one of the best talents we have seen in a very long time.
It's great having so much talent to arguediscuss on these forums. We would be in the sh*t if there wasn't any!!!!

Marco is a fine young player, with astute vision and ball skills (and also the first to go straight from Melville 6-a-side into the national league). He has dozens of different ways to beat a defender. That is a rarer skill in the New Zealand environment than a young player who is good as a stopper. I think he will be hot property in a few years. He is already one of the most exciting players to watch when he is on song. his debut NZFC goal was one of the most technically proficient piece of finishing i've seen from a teenager here.

For all that, I still regard him as a marginal proposition for a berth in Waikato's starting line-up. it's a man's league, and to my mind Marco has much work to do on his fitness, and he also lacks physcial presence. Further, he has no defensive dimension to his game, which means he is often something of a luxury player. He won't run the doggies like Waikato's other attackers, and won't tackle back like the other wide men.

But the bottom line is, Marco is a bit special. There will be days where he doesn't show up at all, and I still think at present he is best as an impact player off the bench. But overall, the kid is well on his way. I will be following his progress with interest. Never thought i would say this on a forum, but hey, I agree with Feedback.

Being at Waikato has been good for him. Dave Edmondson is one of those coaches who has an affinity for youth, and in the circumstances Marco has been able to express himself.

Marco was always one of those kids, when he was 7-8, people around here were tipping he would play for NZ one day. Or Chile.

That's not setting the bar really high, although they would have been big rings around you News so I can't see how he can't be fit enough.

I just hope that Marco kicks on and continues to get better and doesn't stall in his early 20s as so often happens. TBH he has looked the business when in Yellow and Black.
