From what i have seen in the north the best two sides are Auckland City and Birkenhead, Auckland United very ordinary and other likely candidate eastern Suburbs the same. After last weeks result maybe Auckland City not the best in the north ? Never write them off though.Expect all 4 Wellington sides to be competitive as will a well resourced Cahmere Technical. Think the second southern side will struggle.

You would hope that the transfer in of players for the national round is not permitted but NZ Football has the habit of making up rules as it goes along.
Strangely i can recall in the Superclub of the mid 1990's this was allowed - can recall Miramar having All Whites Stu Jacobs and Simon Elliott on "loan" from Olympic , although the infamous plate competition (for clubs not in the National round)was still being played so circumstances a little different.
Looking at the Northern League i can't think of too many players outside the likely top 4 that would be attractive propositions ?Maybe just to bolster numbers as some of the clubs could be looking at 30 plus games this season (conference , national and chatham cup), not forgetting that most played National League as well.

Through contacts in Auckland. Some Auckland clubs complaining because Lower Hutt as the Nix entry will be able to bring players in.

It’s a fair query if Lower Hutt can, but at the same time they aren’t allowed to make the semifinals so their results don’t really matter

The Lower Hutt thing may be a red heering as it is Wellington Phoenix playing in the league not Lower Hutt .Undoubtedly the Phoenix side will be based on Lower Hutt but will probably have other players bought in . I assume the same rules may apply as in the past as to max. number of contracted professionals ?

There might not be many/any professionals playing for the reserves, it’s almost certain the first team will be based out of Australia again, so they won’t leave in pros in Wellington. Also, it’s only 9 games now so that won’t take very long, assuming the league goes ahead which is no certainty

Bought in? Do they have to pay a transfer fee?

These scenarios dictate what form the upcoming men’s and women’s National League competitions, as well as the yet to be completed Football Foundation Kate Sheppard Cup and Chatham Cup, will take, along with the impact on regional seasons.

Would the National league still be able to go ahead if the new level 2 was only to allow gatherings of 50 people??

I suppose. They might just do behind closed doors. It would be a shame though.

Old national league coukd of </sarcasm>

It's tricky, 2/4 venues can prevent entry here in wellington,.assuming Wests use Porirua park. More online streaming?

National League requirements involved closed off stadia anyway; irrespective of COVID they'd have to have it. Hence they can control ticketing... however I would guess that if it were a limit of 50 people, that would really only cover players, coaching staff and officials...

100 person limit on outdoor gatherings at Level 2. So that shouldn't mean significant handicaps to the Central and Southern Leagues finishing?

Nope, although Mainland didn't allow any spectators at English Park last time despite every other park in the city doing it.

But yer, should be game on!

Last time we had that limit in the south nobody seemed to mind anyway, turnout is very rarely that large anyway.

Central League finishing doesn't really matter as despite games still to go. Olympic are champions, Mar second, Lower Hutt (Weenix) 3rd & Wests 4th. Wainui getting relegated so last round is irrelevant

do they? In the past they did and Auckland University were kicked out in the late 80s due to this rule but these days it doesn't seem to matter - Madills Farm isn't closed off, Waitakere United's Fred Taylor Park wasn't closed off. Southern United were only closed off when the played at Forsthy Barr stadium - the days of NZF insisting on closed off stadiums are long gone
