Good player, can strike a ball bloody well. Was asked to a Barcelona trial in his youth.

Also guaranteed red card every year for abusing the ref...

Would be a real coup in they signed Martens. One hell of a left peg. Shame he was injured for Stop out during the season. Still young enough to have some solid national league appearances in him.

How come you guys never picked up Kristian Gibson? He's looked all class in training & preseason for Southern and surely walks into their starting lineup. Just seems odd he wasn't given a chance for Tasman if you're crying out for defenders?

Tasman have two too many foreigners. They went for Luca Perico instead.

think everyone was surprised but Davor Tavich saw him play throughout the entire MPL season. Maybe his two sending offs put Tavich off.

Also TU have four centre backs with Kaltack, Johnston, Perico, Allan. They are short a left back really. I dont think Kristan is that. PLus foreign visa

I caught the highlights on TV last night. Great result, looks like we should've won by more, good to see Ifill getting on the board early and hopefully Al-Khlisy will keep scoring for fun! Two very well taken finishes.

I think Hamilton will be towards the bottom of the table though, so Canterbury this weekend will be a good test.

The ISPS Handa Premiership: Where The Lions Of Mesopotamia Are Made.

He may have trained with the All Whites earlier this year but Abdulla Al-Kalisy could be set to represent Iraq, not New Zealand, on the international stage.

The 21-year-old Tasman United striker, who is the son of Iraqi immigrants, has been selected to play in two friendlies against Oman in Doha, Qatar, next month as Iraq begins preparing for the AFC U-23 Championship in January.

Big loss for Tasman, if they are without Al-Kalisy for two weeks. Good timing with Smith and Matthysen now available though.

Tasman looking to go 3 for 3 to start the season.

I do think we've opened with arguably the 3 weakest teams in the league (although Canterbury is probably better than the WeeNix), but another win would be a strong statement of intent. I do think we can be a top 4 team this season.

Is Matthysen available for selection now?

Phoenix Academy

He is available for selection but not 100 per cent fit. Could make the bench, perhaps, but won't be shocked if Davor gives him another week or sends him down to NYL.

Was surprised by the decision to drop Tinashe Marowa and Abdulla Al-Kalisy to the bench. They're two of Tasman's most dangerous players.

Al-Khalisy was probably cos he's going overseas today - let the team settle without him. The front 3 is so stacked that someone has to miss out.

I'm biased, but thought TW were very lucky to win that. Both teams chances but I thought Tasman were far more fluid in the front third. Keiran Smith and Brian Kaltack were both outstanding and not a bad debut for Britton in goal.

Looking forward to a replay of the Barcia/Ifill challenge, plenty of people thought a red was harsh for Barcia.

Ridsdale certainly wasn't happy about the penalty either but I missed what happened.

Great turnout from Tasman fans, must've almost outnumbered TW supporters!

From everything I've heard Tasman bossed the game and very unlucky not to take anything away

Was pretty even, tasman created the better chances and had one goal disallowed and two pretty handy penalty shouts. Like against Wellington, tasman are getting in the box but are unable to get shots away. The new centre back Brian is unbelievably good.

Tasman missed a chance to push deep into the top four today.

Davor Tavich changes this team every week. Wonder if some consistency in selection would help.

At the Auckland-Tasman game today - Jesus that kid Callan Elliott is impressive for his age. Best on the team so far. He done well this season so far?

Edit: Game’s over, Tasman really unlucky not to get more from the match. Easily the more dangerous team, Marowa had a blinder too when he came on including a brilliant skill move that the whole crowd cheered at

The kid is a freak. Definitely in the conversation for best teenager in the country. Was good at Wairarapa all winter too.

Unfortunately playing well and getting less points than deserved has been the story of our season - we've outplayed TW and ESAFC without a win. Still a good chance for the top 4 though

Callan Elliot is very good. Surprisingly has not represented NZ at age group level. Wonder if he will be eligible for next NZ U20 cycle? Is at the Paul Ifill Academy in Masterton.

He's been in NZ most of his life, I think he was born in Scotland though. He was going to George Campbell's academy at age 8 or so when I was in my early teens.

Probably classed as a academy graduate now!

Media Release from New Zealand Football - released earlier tonight

MEDIA RELEASE

For immediate use

Friday 29 December, 2017

ISPS Handa Premiership – Auckland City field ineligible player

New Zealand Football have determined that Auckland City FC have forfeited their Round Nine match in the ISPS Handa Premiership.

The Navy Blues, who won the match 3-1 against Tasman United to go two points clear at the top of the table, have been found to have fielded Micah Lea’alafa ineligibly in the match on 17 December and forfeit the result.

Lea’alafa was not listed on Auckland City’s ISPS Handa Premiership named squad and Auckland City failed to lodge a copy of the players’ Amateur Player Agreement with New Zealand Football for the 2017-18 competition.

NZ Football found Auckland City FC in breach of Regulations 18 and 19 of the National League Regulations and therefore guilty of fielding an ineligible player and subject to the automatic penalties as determined in accordance with regulation 34 of the NZF Disciplinary Code.

The result sees Team Wellington move to the top of the ISPS Handa Premiership table. The defending champions are on 17 points after nine games, while the Navy Blues are now second on 16 points with a game in hand. Tasman United, with the three points, climb to sixth on the ladder on 13 points and into semi-final contention.

The ISPS Handa Premiership resumes on 6 January, 2018 with Round 10.

Ridsdale to Southern - he wasn't going to get a run for us in his proper position, Pearson was always gonna go back to Bala Town. Has anyone else left?

Marowa wasn't in the last squad but I haven't seen any confirmation of him leaving

Interesting how Marowa is taking a break. I remember reading he felt gutted he missed out on a pro contract with the Nix at the end of last year and decided to move to Nelson to give himself the best chance of turning pro at some stage. And now he's not seeing the season out. From what I've seen he's a good player so hope he'll return next year.
